Standing Tall

It's been a few days after Charlie and I said goodbye to our almost 'love-affair'. I honestly miss her and wish I can just go to her station and tell her that I want to be with her - but I know that I can't just do that. We need to protect our reputation - especially that she's still starting to move up the ladder.

I'm trying my best to focus on my tasks - thinking the new role will allow me to grow not only in this industry but also as a person. Every day, I try to discover unique ways to improve my skills and be better than what is needed. To be the best!

"Hey!" Shane greeted me as she dropped by the trainer's bay.

"Kamusta tol?" I asked her.

"Good! Ikaw?" She replied.

"Buhay pa..." I laughed.

"Have you heard the news?" Shane asked.

My facial reaction answered her No.

"Si Charlie... She's promoted. TL na siya?" She happily announced.

"Wow! That's good! What team will she handle?" I asked curiously.

"New Hire..." She answered.

I don't know but I felt the excitement.

It was after lunch when I was called in at our Manager's office.

She greeted me and hugged me when I went inside.

"I have good news for you..." She started.

I focused on her and waited for her to break the news.

"With your performance, that's always consistent. I know things were hard the past few months because you lost her but I'm glad you're choosing your career over your heartbreak. You are better off without her, I can say that. No distractions. No one is stopping you from achieving your goals. I am proud of you because you're able to stand by a very difficult decision." She continued.

I honestly don't understand why she's saying these. I guess news travels fast.

"Now, I am giving you an opportunity to lead a project in launching a new system. You are no longer to train new hires, rather start working with the system engineers and operation's leaders to improve the new system. I know how well you know the capabilities of the old one so I'm sure, you'll be a great help to them. Once the system is 100% operational, you will head the training classes and ensure everyone is onboard the new system. I just need your commitment to this as this is a huge project." She explained.

I am overwhelmed but it sounds so good.

"Are you ready for this?" She finally asked.

"Always ready!" I said excitedly.

She stood up and congratulated me. She also gave me some instructions on what will happen next. After a while, I left her office and went back to my desk on the trainer's bay.

Would that mean, I won't be working with Charlie anymore? The thought made me sad.

I was surprised when someone tapped my back. I immediately turned around and saw Shane.

"I guess, I should congratulate you as well," Shane said while smiling.
