Chapter Fifteen: Kenny Ackerman

You had a good sleep that night. Your dreams were pleasant and they smelled like roses and something else. Something you could never quite pinpoint. It wasn't cinnamon...maybe mint? You couldn't quite tell.

Wait a minute, you thought as your mind began to wake. Where am I? Your eyes opened, taking a moment to adjust to your dark surroundings. The lights were off. But as soon as the fuzziness cleared, you were met with the sight of grey clouds against a midnight background through the window screen you faced. They appeared to loom, almost endlessly in the sky. It also appeared to be raining--

'CLAP-BOOM!'

You yelped, quickly sitting up in the bed. Raining with thunder. Was it day time? You could hardly tell. It sure didn't look like it. After all, it was rather dark. Where's the time? You looked around before it hit you like a bag of rocks.

You were at Levi's house. In Levi's room...

In Levi's bed.

You looked to your right and gasped lightly, startled.

By Levi's side as well, apparently.

He laid there peacefully, his chest rising and falling with every quiet breath he took. You stared at him in awe. You were quite sure you had never seen him while he was asleep before. Positive. And if so, it must have been one of those very rare moments.

Levi, in all the time you'd known him, didn't sleep very easily. Most nights he was very insomniac. So much so, he'd sometimes call you while you were asleep to let you know that he couldn't sleep. He always happened to fall into slumber after you, but always awoke before you.

It was a weird paradox.

He looks so cute! you squealed internally, wanting so badly to capture this moment on camera (for blackmail purposes, of course). If only you knew where your phone was...

Just as you began to shift around in bed to find your phone, an arm slung across your midsection. You froze momentarily, blinking before turning your head to look at the sleepy ravenet. His eyes remained closed, but his breathing seemed to quicken slightly. Perhaps he was waking up?

"Go the fuck to sleep and stop moving so much brat," he croaked just after taking a deep breath.

Or perhaps you had woken him up...

He almost sounded...congested. You waved it off as one of the morning symptoms of sleep. You were sure you sounded the exact same. Maybe even worse considering you hadn't even spoken since you'd awoken.

"I think it's morning already," you replied with a yawn, covering your mouth with the sleeve of the sweater you hadn't realized you were wearing. You appeared to be wearing your school clothes from yesterday which quite frankly, felt rather uncomfortable.

"Yeah...like...two in the morning," he muttered in between pauses, his words slurring dramatically. Your heart clenched and you smirked lazily. This was funny. You watched as Levi turned onto his stomach, burying his face into his pillow. You raised a brow at the sight. How in Maria's name can he breathe?

"...Stop staring at me...you little shit," Levi mumbled through the fabric of his pillow after a few moments of silence. Your eyes widened. How did he know you were staring? You didn't even know you were staring. "It's fucking...fuckin'..." You blinked with expectancy as if his 20/20 vision hadn't freaked you out enough.

"Fucking what?"

"..."

"Did you seriously just fall asleep on me?"
