Halsey,

F O U R days had officially passed since the abduction of Bucky's family. Long days and even longer nights, he was left in a sleepless state and delirium took him over.

His mind was always filled with guilt, questions, worry, self hatred. It was as if he was slipping back into the days after he woke in Wakanda. When he was forced to deal head on with his crimes against humanity and the monster he had become.

This time it was worse. Because it wasn't him who was answering for those crimes, it was Charlie and Oliver. They were paying for the mistakes Bucky Barnes had made; he convinced himself that.

Bucky was sitting at the wide table in the conference room, a pencil in his hand as he circled words and sentences that made sense to him.

The pages were full of various records and his blue eyes looked over everything that could possibly help them figure out where Charlie and Oliver were taken.

"This is ridiculous," Bucky slammed the pencil down. "We need to be doing something. Not just sitting here."

"What are we supposed to do? Where are we supposed to go?" Sam asked from across the room.

"I don't know! You're the fucking Avenger's!" Bucky stood up and knocked the chair over. "Jesus fucking Christ."

Wanda frowned as she looked at her friend; feeling the wave of desperation and grief that was wafting off of him. She didn't have to look into his mind to see the pain that he was in. She could see it through his eyes, the way his shoulders slumped as if the weight of the entire world was on his shoulders.

She felt sad; because she cared for her friend and seeing how devastated he was did not help how she felt. It only made her feel worse.

"We have no leads. There's nothing that could possibly tell us who took them or why. It's a dead case. Just like my old case on you, back in the day. I'm sorry Bucky, we're trying." Sam said, rubbing his eyes. He hadn't slept in days.

"We need to check the old Hydra posts. Siberia, what's left of Sokovia, Logos. Something. They've got to be somewhere." Bucky said. Desperation was heavy in his tone. "Guys, please. Come on."

Sam looked at Wanda, and they shared a look before he stood up. "Alright. Alright. I'll get a jet. Someone call Peter. I'll let Fury know."

Bucky sighed with relief and leaned against the table. The headache he had been nursing since the abduction still was raging, and the pain was beginning to spread behind his eyes. He was exhausted, craving sleep but couldn't find it.

He did feel better when Sam agreed to checking out some of the old Hydra posts. At least it was something. And the possibility of finding Charlie and Oliver sparked a hope in him that burnt out days ago.

The room was cold and dark as the party of four walked into the room. A gun sat too comfortably in Bucky's arms as his eyes looked around the room.

There was nothing.

His mind took him back to the last time he was in this room. How he had marched down the turning hallways with his friend, searching for other Winter Solider's and coming up empty handed.

Just like this time, he came up empty handed.

His metal first broke through various rounds of glass and metal as he took his anger out on one of the old machines that housed the soldiers. His vision was blurry as he tried his best not to cry in front of the Avenger's. Though his heart was at his feet and he felt like he was going to be sick.

Bucky couldn't stop thinking about how only a week ago, Charlie and Oliver were with them. Only a few days ago he had taken her out for their first date and had never been happier. It was only a few days ago; how could so much change so quickly?

"Bucky." Sam said, stepping closer to the x-assassin and attempting to reach for him. "Bucky, stop."

Bucky's arm was grabbed and he stilled. Charlie's face disappeared from his mind and he looked back at Sam,; thrown back into the present. Tears welled his eyes and he slowly shook his head. "Where are they, Sam?"

"I don't know," Sam sighed and hugged his friend.

He had never seen Bucky Barnes this broken; and he was there for it all. He had seen him remember who he was and who Steve was. He had seen Bucky go back into cryo because it would help his mind. He had seen Bucky say goodbye to the only friend he ever really knew.

But it was nothing compared to this. It was nothing compared to having the family he finally had, be ripped out from underneath him. Sam felt awful for Bucky.

"We'll find them. We will." Sam reassured his friend; ignoring the way Bucky cried so he didn't embarrass him. He just wasn't sure if he'll find them, or their bodies.

Wanda stood by the corner of the room, trying to control her tears as well. Her and Charlie has grown close; closer than Wanda wanted to allow herself to be. But how could she resist Charlie Grant? She was kinder than anyone Wanda had ever met before. She helped Wanda feel alive again, like she had a life worth living.

She felt guilty over Charlie's kidnapping too. And the little boy that confused her so much. Wanda thought about it a lot. She could always look into someone's mind, feel their feelings, their emotions. But she couldn't with Oliver Grant. Usually children were the easiest.

Peter was the one to comfort Wanda. The mask from his iron suit had dropped and he was able to properly look at her.

"We'll find them. Who knows, maybe they're just on a vacation." Peter said. He knew it wasn't the truth, but he tried to make the older woman smile.

He got half of one, a sad one. "We better. Charlie owes me ten dollars."

Silence feel over the group, before it was interrupted by a familiar voice breaking through their earpiece. "Hey guys. Get back to base now. We found something." It was Fury.

Just like that, everyone moved out.
