Part 25: First game of the year

And before I knew it, January was here. And now that the transfer window was open, Joseph could officially sign the contract for Spurs.
Joseph was taken to the Spurs training ground and went into the office to sign the contract to sign the contract.

I was surprised that Atlanta let him go that easily, I guess they don't want to hold him back from being at his best. Although I do think Spurs gave a generous enough fee to Atlanta, giving them £30,000,000 ($38,500,000) to acquire Joseph's services.

Joseph couldn't sign the contract on January 1st however, because we were in Southampton for a match.
We were on the team bus on our way to Southampton and I was on my laptop, sitting next to Son.
"What are you doing?" He asked
"Just playing Fifa, I brought my controller though since keyboard and mouse is terrible."
"Do you have another controller?"
"Yeah, why? Plan to get smoked?" I asked
"We'll see about that."
I ended up losing 2-1 but my goal was way better, I preferred shooting from actual distances and not stupid tap-ins at the far post.

We arrived at the Southampton stadium and got warmed up for the match, Son then came up to me with something in his hands.
"What's that?" I asked
"They're some gloves, it's cold out. Put them on before we play otherwise you'll be freezing."
"What are you, my mum?" I laughed
"I'm not that old!" Son said
"Alright, let's go, we've got a game to win."

Commentary/TV perspective
Welcome Ladies and Gentlemen to the first match of the year for these two teams. I am Martin Tyler and the match today will be Southampton taking on Tottenham in St Mary's stadium, and its live!

Tottenham Hotspur have gone with a 4-2-3-1 formation today with;
Paulo Gazzaniga starting in goal
Aurier and Davies are the fullbacks
Vertonghen and Sanchez playing centre backs
Dier and Winks start as defensive midfielders
Dele, Son and Ndombele start in the midfield
And finally, (Y/n) (L/n) starts up top

Tottenham win the coin toss and will kick off first. Son and will go and take it.

0'
Son kicks off and passes back to the defence. Jan Vertonghen collects the ball and waits a couple of seconds before playing a long ball over to the other half.
What are Tottenham doing, are they giving the ball to the opposition?

Wait! (L/n) collects the ball in Southampton's final third, all of the defenders were oblivious to (L/n)'s presence!
(L/n) controls the ball and brings it down on his left foot and starts dribbling with his right.
It's a 1v1 between (L/n) and Gunn, can (L/n) put the ball in the net?

(L/n) shoots with the inside of his right foot and the ball goes towards the far post.......
And it's in! The ball curls to perfection with Gunn beaten just a minute into the game!

Itzy PoV
"On the replay, you can see the ball was going just wide but somehow (L/n) managed to curl it at the right time to put Tottenham in the lead." The commentator said
"Wow, did you see that? I almost missed it cause it happened so early on." Yeji said
"Same here, it caught me so off guard." Yuna replied
"Yeah, imagine what it was like for the goalkeeper then." Lia input
"I can't imagine what that'd be like, I wouldn't last five seconds on that pitch!" Chaeryoung imagines
"What do you think Ryujin?.....Ryujin?"
"Huh, Oh, well I was watching it but I don't care about the goal, it looked like (Y/n) twisted his ankle but maybe I'm overreacting." Ryujin pointed out

Throughout the game, the girls were always on edge,
"21 minutes in and Southampton have a penalty due to a collision in the box between Adams and Vertonghen. Can Danny Ings put this away?" The commentator says
"He better not, we need (Y/n) to win." Ryujin said
"Agreed!" Yuna replied
"Ings goes up for the penalty............and scores, the keeper goes the right way but couldn't get the the ball quick enough, 1-1 and Southampton are back in the game."
"Damn, how annoying!" Ryujin said
"Wow, what's gotten you so worked up Ryujin? Normally you're not this jumpy." Lia asked
"Oh, no reason."

A couple days prior
It was late in the evening and Ryujin and I were currently speaking over the phone
"So what would be the thing you most look forward to do in a relationship, what do you want to do the most?" I asked
"I really want to go to a fancy restaurant and have a candle lit dinner, but I wouldn't mind just going to the cinema instead." Ryujin answered
"Ok, I have an idea. If I win my next match, I'll take you for a candle lit dinner in a very fancy restaurant and I'll pay for everything."
"Wait, you're not serious right? I thought you were only asking for no reason, I didn't know you'd actually say you'd do it."
"I am serious."
"You really don't need to, I'm fine." Ryujin nervously laughed
"Nope, I want to do it too, so I will."
"Ok fine, but I need to go now, My manager has told me to get to sleep."
"Ok, bye Ryujin!"
"Bye!"

Ryujin squeals in excitement as she clutches her phone and holds it close to her chest. Having been woken up by Ryujin, Lia throws her pillow at her and says
"Get to sleep, and what are you squealing about, I thought you were an idol, not a fan girl."
"Oh, it's nothing don't worry."
"Fine, just get to sleep."
Ryujin couldn't sleep that night however, she was too busy playing out scenarios in her head of what was yet to come, I guess you could say she was stuck in her own daydreams.

Present
"Come on (Y/n), you better win." Ryujin whispered
