☼Someone's caught your eye and it seems like you caught theirs too..
But it's hard to understand Johnny's heart... or are you just oblivious.
Between new relationships, buried attraction and broken friendships... w...
Johnny burst into the kitchen looking worn out from the day's events. He dumped an assortment of junk on the table across from yours and immediately reached for his apron.
"I was stuck in a meeting, hope you weren't waiting for too long," he pardoned.
"I just got here," you lied. You've been waiting for forty minutes and had absolutely nothing to show for it which he noticed shortly after examining the empty bowls and pans. Instead of nagging like he usually does he smiled to himself. "You know...I'm actually happy to end the day with you."
The numbness of Johnny's flirting was all too real and the mixed messages were too much to bear. You felt the pressure of the last days nearing and at the countdown, became saddened that you would only remain his friend. You simply nodded to him in which he reacted disheartedly.
After reading the ingredients from your phone for the Mexican Hot Chocolate Pie, you retrieved a frozen pie crust from the freezer. There was no time for homemade crust this evening since it was already nearing 5pm. Johnny was watching your every movement keenly. Even as you sulked around the room gathering the ingredients, you unknowingly exhaled with every step.
Only a few days,
you thought to yourself.
Until he leaves....until we both leave....what to do...
You looked down at everything you gathered, "Eggs...milk...vanilla ext–"
Johnny grabbed your arm causing you to drop the mixing bowl straight to the floor.
"D-d-did I miss something?" You questioned, while leaning down to pick up the bowl but that was impossible since he was still holding onto you.
"Did you hear me?" He asked.
"Hear...you?" You didn't even know he was talking. You were so overwhelmed with your own thoughts.
"I asked...if you would be my girlfriend."
What.
Johnny took your shoulders and made you face him. His original scent surrounded your senses and you became vulnerable to your hidden feelings. Your heart raced in response to his medium brown eyes peering into your soul. He scanned your whole face while he spoke.
"I can't just be your friend."
Say something...
"Tell me...tell me you..." He blew off the rest of his sentence as if it was a hassle to say, as if he was expressing himself to someone who wouldn't understand. His eyes watered; the thought of him being wrong was dreadful.
The invisible clock stopped ticking and you could finally hear the boy speaking. "Yes!"
The words blurted from your mouth, maybe a little too loud, maybe a little too forward, but your heart spoke back to the boy, "I like you too Johnny."
He laughed and paused, laughed and paused again as if he was computing the words and finally his pupils grew larger.
"I knew it," he teased in a whisper. "I saw you watching me the first day."
Before you could shy away in embarrassment he leaned in closer and brushed his nose across yours. You traced the origins of the sweet scent to his neck and like a drunkard found yourself leaning inward to try and smell it closer. A ticklish gasp came from Johnny's mouth and to distract you he bought your hand to his lips and kissed it ever so gently. He looked at you so lovingly that it caused you to blush. He loved when you reacted to his silent confessions of love and bought his face back to yours. This time instead of noses meeting, your lips did.
