Chapter 15: Broken-hearted

Gia and Mariska's bookstore always closed on Sunday because it was the day for them and also the employees to rest. So, on that day, she was only relaxing at her house. She also helped her mother to clean their house.

After cleaning the house, Gia sat on the couch at the living room. She was chatting with Mariska on WhatsApp. She told her that Tobi came to her house. They planned to watch the British GP together. She also asked her to watch it because she was sure that it would be an interesting race.

At first, Gia hesitated. But, she felt the urge to see him race. She didn't know but she had a good feeling on that day. So, she turned the TV on. The volume was quite low as Adelina was taking a rest in her bedroom. She didn't want to disturb her mother.

From what she saw, she learnt that Seb would start from the front row, to be precise from the second place. She thought that it would be a good chance for him to win. She kept praying and hoping that God would hear her.

The race started some minutes after. Seb had a good start, overtaking Lewis right after the start. Gia didn't realize that she was cheering with joy, screaming yes multiple times. But when she realized, she immediately closed her mouth with her hand.

She was so happy to see him take the lead. It was definitely a good start for him. But unfortunately his teammate, Kimi, collided with Lewis. And he was investigated for that incident.

In the middle of the race, Gia's phone rang. She found out that Mariska sent her a photo. That was a photo of Seb with some heat plasters on his neck. She was worried. So, she asked her what happened to him and why he should use it.

Georgia

Are those heat plasters? What happened to him? Is he unwell?

Mariska

Yes, those are heat plasters. Tobi told me that yesterday during the third free practice, Seb felt stiff on his neck. So, Ferrari decided that he finished the practice earlier. He started using it since qualifying. And today, he still uses it. He is racing with a stiff neck. Can you imagine that?

Gia felt worried and proud at the same time. She was afraid if Seb's neck would get worse. But she was proud because he was so dedicated and committed to race with that condition.

Georgia

It must be hurting him. He is strong enough to race with that condition.

Mariska

Yes, I agree. That makes Tobi even prouder of him. Seb must be exhausted after the race.

She hoped that it wasn't something serious for him. Then, she focused back to the race. She could imagine how proud the team would be if he could win the race.

The TV camera always moved from one place to another. Gia saw the cameraman who was capturing the situation inside Ferrari's garage. She saw the close-up of a blonde woman who was standing there with some crews. How surprised she was when she saw what was written on that.

The tears quickly escaped from Gia's eyes. He had found someone. She knew it. She felt so broken-hearted. The man whom she always loved for more than 10 years was dating someone. Her love was unrequited. She wanted to laugh on herself for loving someone who didn't love her back.
