CHAPTER 2

RAE

September 7, Saturday 

"YOU DO DROOL WHEN YOU SLEEP."

"What?" I asked, my mind still in the state of slumber.

"And you snore...LOUD" Terrence pointed out.

I opened my eyes which is very much against my will. "Oh shut up!"

He rolled his eyes at my reaction. "Totoo naman eh. Tinatanggi mo pa. Kababae mong tao pero anlakas mong humilik."

"So? Porke't babae, hindi na pwedeng humilik?" I raised my eyebrow at him.

"I didn't say that." He defended.

"But that's what you're trying to imply."

"Whatever." He retorted and lay down beside me.

I slighty shook my head.

"What are you doing here anyway?" I asked, just realizing that he was in my room. "Are we going to eat breakfast na?"

"Breakfast?" He looked at me, his face drawn into confusion "Ate, it's noon na kaya. You missed breakfast."

I hurriedly reached out for my phone under the pillow. I tapped the screen twice to check the time, to see whether my little brother is messing with me or not.

12:15 pm

"Shit" I cursed softly under my breath. "Why didn't you bother to wake me up last night ? Or even this morning? I should've joined you."

"Ate... we tried waking you up. Pero ayaw mong magpatinag. Tulog oil ka kasi."

"Tulog mantika, Terrence. Hindi tulog oil." I corrected. " At saka kahit na, dapat pinilit nyo pa rin akong gisingin. Nalipasan tuloy ako ng gutom. I can't believe I missed dinner and breakfast. " As if on cue, my stomach rumbled and Terrence smiled upon hearing the sound it made.

"Obviously." He chuckled. "I tried to tell them to wake you up, I even suggested throwing a bucket of water at you--"

"You suggested what?" I half-shouted, confirming what I've just heard. I swear this little brother of mine has a mind of a devil.

Terrence tried to hide his smirk. "What?" He answered innocently, completely ignoring my outburst.

"Anyway, they ignored my suggestion. Lolo said that we should let you take some rest na lang daw. Since pagod ka daw sa byahe. So we followed him na lang."

Lolo has a point though. After almost six hours of traveling without getting any decent sleep, I was really exhausted yesterday.

Pagkatapos kong pasadahan ang bahay nina Lolo't lola kahapon ay dumiretso na kami sa loob upang kumain. Pinilit kong kumain, kahit konti. Para naman may laman ang tiyan ko bago matulog at hindi ako madapil. Matapos ko'ng maubos ang inihandang pagkain ay nagpaalam na ako upang makapagpahinga. Lola showed me the guest room that I will be using  for the moment.

Pansamantala lang daw muna kaming matulog sa guest room habang inaayos pa ang kwartong tutulugan ko sa mga susunod na araw. When I came in, I already saw my box at the bottom of the bed.

I didn't bother to check my things, I was so beat up. I quickly changed into comfortable clothes while my lola prepared the bed. After a minute or so, I was ready to finally take some rest.

"La, dito rin ba tulog nina Mommy?" I asked, noticing how big the room was.

She slightly shook her head while fixing the window curtains beside the bed. "Nope. Sa ibang kwarto na lang daw sila matulog ng mommy mo sabi ni Terrence sa amin kanina. Natulo daw kasi laway mo kapag natutulog ka at nahilik ka rin daw. Baka daw hindi siya makatulog." She said the last part chuckling.
