Michael couldn't sleep. He didn't even bother to try. The only reason he was still laying on the bed was to hold Laura in his arms, to make her feel safe.
His eyes were fixated on the ceiling, following the slow movement of the shapes that moonlight drew as it poured into the bedroom from between the partly open blinds.

He lowered his gaze and looked at the beautiful woman that was calmly asleep with her head on his chest and her arm around his hips. He brushed his lips across her hair and thought about what she'd been through. It outraged him. He felt murderous anger pumping through his veins, clouding his every thought.

Not in a thousand years, he could've imagined his brother was capable of raping an underage girl. What was going on in his mind? How could he?
And to think he took his advice and called the very place that allowed him to do so, made him sick.

But he was also glad that he did, because it became clear to him that he was destined to be the one to bring Jermaine to justice, to rescue and love the girl he terribly traumatized and hurt.

"Michael?" He heard her sweet sleepy voice calling and he quickly tightened his grip around her beautiful body. "Yes, baby. I'm here..." He whispered.

"I love you. Thank you." She said with closed eyes and he leaned down to kiss her. Her hands tangled with his messy curls and pushed him to her. Soon enough, their bodies collided with passion and he made sweet love to her, whispering words of love and promising to be each other's, forever.

"They won't find you here, but they might try and get to you through me somehow." Michael said to Laura as they were having breakfast.

"Yeah, they will surely follow you, they know where you work and where you live, plus, they have Jermaine on their side. How are we supposed to avoid them? You can't remain hidden here forever." She scaredly asked.

He rubbed his lips together and thought about the only person that could fill in for him at the company while he took care of this hassle... But it was the last person he'd reach out to.

"I may have a solution, but I hate it. God, I fuckin' hate it." He buried his face in his hands and Laura softly caressed his forearm. "What solution? How can you work it out?"

"I once had a vice president that took over my company whenever I was abroad on business, that knew the way around and that the staff respected as much as me."

"Oh, okay. You could fake a trip abroad and have that vice president take over until we figure this out. Right?"

He looked at her through his fingers and his voice almost failed to come out. "I guess... But I don't wanna."

Laura smiled with a curious frown, he was acting like a kid and it was so damn cute. "Why? Who is it?"

"My ex-wife..."

Diana picked up the phone without the slightest suspicion of the person that was on the other side of the line.
Her dominant voice chanted with all the sensuality that always emanated from her pores, she was like a diva. "Yes? Hello?"

"Diana." Michael lowly acknowledged her, trying to conceal his emotions as much as possible.

She leaned forward with her free hand on her chest, suddenly her heart was beating so much faster. Her man was calling her again! Could it be that he'd forgiven her? Did he want her back as badly as she wanted him?

Well, the fact that he was calling her was certainly a start.

"M-Michael, baby... What can I do for you?"

"I need to discuss something, but we can't do it over the phone."

"Of course, of course. I can be at your place in an hour."
