Kenzie's POV
It had been two days since I had gone to see Johnny, and it was now 9:30 PM, so it had nearly been three. And it was fair to say that I was dying without him.
"Lauren, do you know when John's coming home?" I yelled to Lauren, who was downstairs.
"Um, n-no!' she called back.
I sighed and went into my room, opening the door to the small balcony inside. I went outside and breathed in the fresh air. I heard a door close downstairs, but I ignored it. If someone came inside, Lauren would know about it. I looked up and saw the stars, remembering my first night here, when Johnny took me stargazing. That was definitely one of the best nights of my life. I leaned against the railing and looked up, remembering each and every moment of that day, from my car breaking down, to cuddling with John in bed. Ughhh, John, come home please.
"Miss me?" I froze, before turning around to see the boy I've been missing more than anything in my life, in a nice shirt, holding a single rose. His eyes glimmered against the moonlight, and made him look more handsome than ever.
"Johnny!" I raced into his arms and hugged him like I hadn't seen him in years, because that's what it felt like. "What are you doing here?"
"They let me go early, when I said I really needed to see... a special someone." My heart exploded when he said that, and I began smiling shyly. "And, I think I owe you an explanation." He handed me the rose, and I confusedly took it.
"An explanation?" He took a step closer to me, and we were inches apart. I started twirling the rose around in my hand out of nervousness.
"The past few weeks, I've been an absolute dick to you, and I know it." He looked down.
"John, that doesn't matter-"
"It does," he said, looking up, his eyes filling up with tears. "The thing is, it hurt, Mackenzie. It hurt to see you with Hayden. For a while, I was too blind to see why, but I know now. I love you, Kenzie. You're an amazing person, with the sweetest personality, and I knew from the moment I first laid my eyes on you, in that barn, that you were the one for me. Something about you was different from other girls. I didn't know what it was, and to this day, i still don't, but in some way, you're special."
"But then, you went and started dating Hayden, and I knew. I knew that I didn't have a chance with you. You were this adorable city chick, and what am I? A country boy? It really hurt me to see you guys flirting all the time, and I couldn't help but be mad, at you both. But I didn't say anything, because, even though I absolutely hated him then, Hayden was my best friend. I couldn't do that to him, as much as I liked you."
"Which is why, at the talent show, I walked away from you. I thought that making you hate me would make it easier to move on, but after that show, it only ever got harder. And then, when Isaak came into the picture... I couldn't bare to see you get hurt from him, and who knows what he would've done to you. Yeah, sure, it started with a few kisses, but it could've turned to much more. So I took it. I knew that I had to. And I wanted to. I took those punches, Kenzie, I needed to, because if he even touched you, I would've died." A tear rolled down his cheek.
"I had to tell you, Kenzie. After what happened with Isaak, I thought that if something happened to you, and I hadn't told you how I feel, well, it would be even harder to move on. Look, I know that you don't like me back, but I just had to tell you..."
I looked up at the emerald eyed boy in front of me and smiled.
"What makes you think that?" Johnny shot me a confused look. "Johnny... I-I love you too."
He smiled, and I couldn't help but look at his lips. We were standing so close to each other, so you couldn't really blame me. He must've noticed what I did, because he smirked and leaned in halfway, almost asking if I would close the gap. I smiled and moved closer, until our lips connected. We moved in sync, and in that moment, it felt like it was only me and John in the world. Everything else seemed to disappear for a while. I smiled in between the kiss, and we only pulled away when we were out of breath.
He looked me in the eyes. "You have no idea how long I've wanted to do that."
I chuckled, before connecting our lips once again. My arms went around his neck, and his around my waist. I ran my hands through his soft hair, and kissed him harder. He had no idea how long I've wanted to do this either. John seemed to want more, and slipped his tongue into my mouth. I gasped, but quickly sank into the feeling. There it was. The sparks. The sparks I had been missing with Hayden, with Isaak, and with the few guys before him. It was John. It was always John.
Suddenly, we heard a knock, and we jerked from each other quickly. I looked at the door and saw Lauren standing there.
"Um, I'm sorry if I'm interrupting something..." she smiled cheekily, and I put my head on Johnny's shoulder, his arm still around my waist. "Uh, Kenz, there's someone here to see you."
Me and Johnny exchanged a glance, and we went down the stairs.
I opened the door, and I was surprised to say the least.
"Danny?"
(A/N) Guys, i cried while writing this... Anyways, Jenzie kissed!!! After all this waiting, they can finally be together... or can they? And, why do you guys think Danny's here?
