"Where did you get it?" I ask him, sternly.

"I borrowed it from Maz Kanata!" He says quickly.

"Maz? What's she doing with my Master's lightsaber?" I continue questioning him.

"I don't know! She tried giving it to my friend, but she rejected it. She told me to use it instead," He explains.

I lower my lightsaber to my side, apologizing to him.

"It's fine. I would see why you would overreact, though," He says. "What's your name?"

     "Y/N, yours?" I ask him.

     "Finn," He introduces himself.

I hear an explosion from above, and we both look up to see a black and orange X-Wing destroying a TIE-Fighter. The main black ship of the First Order is only several yards away from us with stormtroopers guarding it. A tall man wearing full black robes, a hood, and a dark mask with silver engravings begins to walk up the ramp, carrying someone in his arms.

"Ben?" I whisper to myself, not seeing who he is carrying, but Finn seems to know who.

"No no no no no! No! Noooo! REY!" Finn shouts, running after the ship as the entrance closes and begins to take off to the galaxy. Finn runs up to another older man and a Wookie and tells them about the news. The older man just waves him off and walks over to a transport that just landed a bit ahead of us.

The man walks past me, and I remember that face anywhere.

"Han?" I turn around, calling out to him.

"Yeah what-," He starts, turning around to me and stopping mid-sentence when he sees me. "Kid? You're alive?"

The Wookie behind me growls happily.

"Hey, I was taught by the great Han Solo," I imply, laughing.

"Hey kid, we'll catch up later alright? I gotta-," The door to the transport behind him opens and Leia walks out. I nod my head, signaling to him it's fine, and he walks up to her.

I run up to Finn, remembering the name he said.

"Finn! Hey, did you say Rey?" I ask him.

"They have her! The First Order took her and now she's gone!" Finn's about to have a panic attack.

"Finn!" I declare. He looks at me, finally getting that I needed his attention. "Did you say, Rey?"

"Rey? Yes, I did, do you know her?" He wonders.

"She's my best friend from Jakku," I reply. He starts talking more but I hear a call... a force... leading me to the ruins of the temple. I walk over to the ruins and Finn follows me. I step into the old building and see a chest that's locked and completely unharmed. I kneel down next to it and open the chest. Finn just waits behind me, quietly. I open the odd box and it reveals a lightsaber. However, it's different than mine, Luke's, and any other I've seen. The design on it was beautifully made and there's a button on both sides. A crease in the middle of the long handle indicates two parts becoming whole. I stand back up and face Finn.

"What is this?" I ask him. He just shakes his head, not knowing what it is.

"That was your mother's lightsaber," I hear a voice from behind Finn. An orange alien, Maz, walks up to me.

"M-My mother's?" I ask. She nods. I look down at the lightsaber once again and then look at my old one.

"How could my mother have a lightsaber? She wasn't a Jedi," I tell her.

"Oh but she was. She was like a daughter to me, then again Luke must've told you that," Maz explains.

"He did. He told me how you raised her here, and then later on she was kidnapped and taken away from you. She somehow ended up in Pasaana where she was enslaved, then rescued, right?" I remember the story of my mom.

Maz nods her head again, telling me that I was correct.

"Do you know where I was born?" I question.

"I'm sorry child, I don't know exactly where you come from, but I do know this. Your mother was visiting family here, and she took you with her. Then trouble came after her, not sure why, but she died not far from here. That lightsaber was the last thing she held when I found her. I kept it here for safekeeping, waiting for you to come. And now you're here, it's calling to you," She states.

I press both buttons and the green laser appears at both ends of the handle. I look at the crease in the center more clearly and I grab both sides with my hands. I twist it, and the whole lightsaber breaks into two separate unharmed weapons. I place it back on the crease, twist it again, and it welds back into one whole.

"You said my mom died here, where's the house?" I question her.

"Just follow the path that way," Maz points to a path leading into the forest. "You'll find it in there eventually."

I push past her and Finn and run over to the path. If today is the day I can finally see what happened to my mom, I'm taking my chances. I run for I don't know how long and then I slowly halt to a walk.

"Mom," I mumble. It's just a pile of wood and cobble, but I can see a burial stone in the middle of all of it.

May you rest in peace

Loving mother, friend, and protector

I start to cry, not of sadness, but joy. I'm happy that I can finally know what happened to my mother, even if it's not a lot of information. There are still many questions running through my head, as to why my mother had to sacrifice herself in the first place. And that man in my vision, he's my father yet I have no clue who it could be.

I place the old lightsaber that I carried for all these years and place it on my mother's grave. I rest my hand on the saber, clear my mind, and close my eyes. I feel the ground underneath bury the weapon. I open my eyes and it's gone, sunken into the ground. I get up and start to walk away from the burial scene.
