"I-I've always-" I trailed off sighing and pinched the bridge of my nose.

I didn't know how she would take this.

"Back when you were little your father asked my father to lend him some money which he never gave back. I was a little boy when I first saw you and you were a baby" I couldn't help but smile, "You looked like a little angel but you looked scared. You didn't look comfortable in your father's arms"

She smiled as I took her hand and we sat on the bed.

"I asked my father about you a lot, he would smile everytime but it looked sad. Then one day I saw you in the park with your father. He was yelling at you but you didn't show any reaction. As if you were used to it. Ever since then I would have men check up on you and that's why I had pictures. I felt for you a lot. I wanted to protect you and spoil you and show you all the love in the world"

I saw tears in her eyes and cupped her cheeks ready to wipe them away.

"I soon realized I wanted to protect you. I was in denial first, you were so young and pure and I was this boy that always got himself in trouble and had so many enemies. My father did the same job and he didn't want me to do the same, but-" I trailed off mustering up the courage," Ricci, the guy that took me, killed him. My mother couldn't take it a-and she, she-"

My girl put her hands on top of mine and rested her head on my shoulder and like that i felt strong again.

"She killed herself and I-I felt worthless. My own mother couldn't be strong enough to raise her own child. She didn't care how I would feel losing both of my parents, I was angry. I took my father's place and got stronger, even stronger than him. I did it for revenge but I was also self destructive. I wanted my mom to be able to see me, see what she caused, see how much of a monster I had become. I didn't feel anything but pain"

I was scared she wouldn't want to be with me after I told her that but instead she wrapped her arms around my torso.

"You were the highlight of my day. The only time I was able to breathe, to feel happy. During the day I thought everything was so shitty that not even your pictures would be able to fix it. I was always proven wrong. A single report about you would make me smile immediately"

"How did you become my guardian?" She asked.

"Your father knew I wanted you. He wanted to trade you in order to get rid of his debt but I always said no. I didn't want to make you uncomfortable like that. So when he did what he did, he had already stated that he wanted me to be your guardian. Though even if he didn't, I had a few connections and I would make sure I had you in the end. You might think I killed him, but I didn't. I really didn't, Seren, please trust me. He did it to escape everything, but the truth is, he would get killed sooner or later by other people he owned money to, if not me"

"I see" She whispered. She looked up at me and surprised me by pecking my lips. "Thank you for everything"

"No, thank you for staying with me. I don't know why God sent me an angel like you but I'll make sure you're happy and safe. I promise, just please don't leave"

I couldn't help but be hurt at the thought of her leaving.

"Of course not silly" She giggled. It was contagious making me chuckle as well.

"Now I'm sure you want to see your siblings again right?" I asked her. Her eyes lit up as she nodded. "Go to the living room and I'll be right back then. I'll just clean up"

She kissed my cheek before standing up and leaving the room. I smiled touching the spot she kissed.

I felt a relief after saying all this to her. She accepted me, which meant she really loved me right? I hope I wasn't under any delusion. I wanted her to love me. Needed it.

After taking a shower I headed to the living room bumping on Nate on my way there.

"I see it went well" He smirked taking a bite of his apple.

"It went great. She accepted me"

"See I told you!" He said patting my back. "Now it's my turn to find the love of my life cause I'm jealous seeing you and Leo so happy" He pouted.

"You? Find your love of your life? I can't see you having a relationship for more than two weeks" I laughed.

He hit me, "Fuck you! Just because you found a girl doesn't mean no one else can!" He said. "You know what? I'm mad now, I'm going out to find the girl of my dreams"

"Whatever you say Nate" I chuckled as he walked away showing me the middle finger.

I found my girl in the living room talking with her siblings. Her mother had been arrested by the police and Ricci is no more.

For the first time in my life, everything was going good and it felt weird.

"You know dude if it weren't for Serenity and that pan we would probably still be there with Ricci" Leo said as he stood next to me.

"I know" I smiled. "How's Tessa?" I asked and saw his face fell.

"I don't know, she won't talk to me. She says I'm hiding something"

"Well you are"

"Well how am  I supposed to tell her? Hi baby um you know I work for the Mafia" He mocked.

"Leo if you see yourself with that girl in the future tell her, if not then stop this now that you can"

"I love her Ares, but I'm scared. I've kept so much for her and I know she won't take it lightly. I don't want to lose her. I've already been so close to losing her so many times"

"Don't be scared. If you love her, that's all you need to know. She'll understand if she feels the same" I patted his back and walked towards Serenity who was talking to her siblings.

"Ares you met my siblings right?" She asked me with an smile full of excitement.

"Yes" I said wrapping my arms around her waist.

"When can we go see Devin?" She asked them.

"Whenever you want" Vincent answered. "He'll be so happy to see you. He was waiting for you"

"I want to see him soon" She clapped excitedly.

My girl is happy finally and that's all it takes to make me the happiest man alive.
