Last of Her Kind

(Y/N's POV)

AN: bit of a time skip because I'm lazy.

Alec and I went back on tour a couple weeks ago. We were currently touring the Midwest area and had already visited Milwaukee, Des Moines and Minneapolis.

Tonight we were in Chicago.

Slight change of pace.

My stage anxiety was a little higher than it had been lately but overall it was getting a lot better.

I was practicing my chords on the piano an hour before showtime when Alec walked- no, ran into the room.

"(y/n)!"

I was trying to decide if I was gonna answer worriedly or annoyed, and when I saw the dumb smirk on his face I picked the latter.

"What?" I raised an eyebrow.

"Check the link I just sent you." He held up his phone like a child.

I rolled my eyes, but smiled and pulled out my phone.

I furrowed my eyebrows as I clicked on it.

"What...the..?"

"I know, right?"

I read it multiple times before I said anything.

Alec Benjamin X (y/s/n) (your stage name) - their story.

It was a wattpad book.

I looked up and narrowed my eyes a little.

"What is this?" I chuckled a little.

"You should read it, it's actually good." He replied nonchalantly as he walked out.

"Wait?! You read it?!"

"(y/n) you're on in 5."

"Ok, thank you." I stood on my tiptoes to look through the curtains.

"Stop doing that." Alec walked over and shoved my hands away from each other. I hadn't even realized I'd been cracking my knuckles.

Nervous habit.

"You're gonna be great, ok? You always are."

I half-smiled at him.

"Please welcome: (y/s/n)!" I walked out of the curtain and grabbed the mic."

"What's up Chicago, how we doin'?"

The applause from the crowd warmed my heart. I always forgot how rewarding this part was.

I walked offstage, and went to the cooler to get some water. I heard Alec quietly greet the crowd and their ecstatic response to him.

"Woah. Ok. Didn't realize (y/s/n) got you that hyped up."

The crowd erupted in cheers. I felt like I could cry.

"Yeah. She's pretty great isn't she?" He smiled into the microphone as he finished tuning his guitar.

"Are you guys dating?" A voice from the audience yelled.

"You guys are so cute!" Shouted another.

The guitar riff at the start of Boy In the Bubble began to play.

Different members of the stage crew nodded at me, said good job, and dabbed me up.

I grabbed a water from the cooler and walked back to the lounge.
