Jess' POV

I woke with a lump on top of me. I slowly opened my eyes, bracing myself for something bad. My vision was a bit blurred but I could definitely see Josh's large arm draped across me. I tried to move but my movement seemed to cause a strengthening reaction. I looked over at the clock on the wall and it was 10:30am. I knew I would have to get up otherwise people would think I'm a lazy Queen. Last nights events flew through my brain. The parade, the coronation, the ball and when I'd finally let Josh mark me. I smiled at this and Ruby let out a howl of joy. I lifted up my free arm and brushed a finger on the bite. I shivered in pleasure as courses of energy flowed through me. I turned a bit under my mates strong grasp and looked at his sleeping face. He was so handsome when he looked like that. His face didn't have any worry on it and he looked so innocent. But I'd seen him when that face had been angry in times of trial. I had to get out of this, whatever it was. The first thing I tried was temptation. I gently kissed along his jawline. He let out a growl but only held me tighter. That didn't seem to work. I then tried fear. This is probably the only one that had a chance of working. I screamed as loud and high pitched as I could.
"JOSH!" He sprang off the bed and shifted in mid air. His large black wolf let out a fearsome growl and stood searching the room for any sign of danger. He looked back at me and I had to admit I was scared. He looked furious. I crawled to the back of the bed and curled my legs up to my chest. His face softened when he noticed I was scared of him. He immediately shifted and I tried not to look at his body on full display. But I did notice he had an eight pack. Just like I'd assumed. He crawled onto the bed and held my hands in his.
"Why'd you scream?" He asked frantically looking around the room.
"I wanted you to get off me." I muttered. He sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose.
"You scared the hell out of me Jess. I thought you were in trouble or hurt." He said with worry in his voice.
"Sorry." I whispered as he climbed off the bed.
"Just, get changed and come downstairs for breakfast." His voice was filled with sorrow and I couldn't help but feel bad that I'd made him think of worst case scenarios. I nodded as he went into the cupboard and I went to the bathroom to have my shower. After drying myself off and getting ready I had to decide what to wear. I wasn't exactly sure if I had to wear something nice or if I could just wear what I wanted. But considering this is my house I guess I could just wear what I wanted. Like, first world problems right here. I put on a pair of sweat pants and a hoodie. I walked down to the kitchen and all the Elders were there. They looked at me in complete disgust but I just turned away and started making my breakfast.
"What are you wearing?" One of the Elders asked. I turned to look at them all. They all frowned at my clothes.
"What's wrong with what I'm wearing?" I asked them putting some toast in the toaster.
"You look like a slob." Mathew spat at me and I was truly offended.
"This is not slob looking, it's comfortable." I huffed and crossed my arms across my chest.
"If you look like a slob, the people will think you are a slob." He hissed.
"Excuse me, but the lycanthrope community shouldn't care about what I wear, but the decisions I make when I'm ruling them." I stomped out of the room taking my piece of toast with me. I bumped into Josh on my way out. He wrapped his arm around my shoulders and walked with me. I didn't actually have a clue where I was going.
"What's wrong?" He asked.
"The fucking Elders are what's wrong. They don't understand the minds of this generation. It's so annoying." I whined on and on about all he reasons why I didn't like the Elders and Josh just laughed.
"Some of their ideas must be good." He said chuckling.
"Yep can't wait to have meetings with them. Yay." I dripped my voice with as much sarcasm as I could. Josh let out another laugh that was oh so sexy. We sat down on a bench next to the pool.
"So, I've been doing some papers on getting the packs together." He started but my mind kept on drifting elsewhere. I'm pretty sure he noticed this as well. "What's wrong?" He asked. His eyes were filled with concern and I was so happy that I could have such and empathetic mate.
"I was thinking..." I dragged on.
"Yes?"
"What ever happened to Kaidan?" His face immediately fell and I felt him stiffen beside me. "Josh?"
"We never found him." He muttered. Holy shit! He's out there somewhere. I don't know where he is but he knows exactly where I am.
"What?!" I shouted standing up.
We need to find him before he finds us, Ruby urged in my brain.
"Jess, calm down." Josh tried to sooth me.
"Calm down!? Calm down!?" I shouted at him, fury and fright running through me. "The person who kidnapped me is still out there and I'm supposed to calm down!?" I was walking fast towards the castle.
"Don't you think that I don't want him out there as well!? I'm trying all I can to find and kill him!?" He shouted back at me. Yet I ignored him. A pack member was sitting in the lounge and I went straight to them.
"Where is your head of tech?" I asked the lady who looked quite frightened at my snapping.
"2nd level. Third door on the left." She said quickly. I nodded my thanks and ran up the stairs two at a time. I heard Josh following close behind as I tried to find my destination. I opened a door to see a guy sitting at a desk with about six computers. He looked a bit startled as I slammed open the door with an angry Alpha behind me.
"I need you to search up anything to do with the name Kaidan Magnus." I red red the guy.
"Jess you don't know what's going to turn up." Josh warned me.
"I'm doing this for the better Josh." I spun to look at him.
"Jessamine Newton as Alpha I demand you to stop." He used his tone on me but it didn't work.
"Joshua Henderson unless you've forgotten, I'm your Queen of higher regard, now stand down." He couldn't help but leave the room with a huff. I pinched the bridge of my nose and let out a deep breath.
"That must be the first monarchy fight." I heard a voice murmur behind me and turned to see the tech guy.
"Ha, you obviously don't know much about me, actually I don't know much about you." I cocked my head.
"My names Zac." Then I told Zac how my life was far from having any fights.
