The day I first met you
Was the day that I knew
You'd paint the greys in my world
Yellow, red, and blue
And as I spent more time with you
Those colors spread, blossomed, and bloomed
The days moved fast
But not a second was wasted
Every little thing
Could be seen, heard, smelt, felt, and tasted
It was amazing what you had given me
There was just so much to see
You had done so much to improve my life
I wanted to make yours just as bright
So I promised to paint you glorious sights
But as the days went on
You couldn't see the colors quite so well
And as the days went on
The meaning of those paintings fell
But I had promised to paint you a picture
And even if you couldn't see
A painting I'd depicture
So when you close your eyes
Think of emerald fields
And saffron skies
Think of sapphire oceans
And golden dandelions
Think of how I'd paint the world
Just to see you smile
