EUN'S POV
(translated)

"Hyunwoo," I gasp in surprise, calling for my husband. "Her shoes are mismatched!"

My shock turns into laughter. My small Jae is sitting restlessly in her car seat with drool smeared on her chubby cheeks. I frown at the sight of her pigtails out of place from her wiggling and squirming. Jae's beautiful dark hair falls just to her shoulders, and the haircut we paid for just before arriving to Auntie Miyoung's home creates soft bangs atop her small forehead.

I start shaking my head at the sight of her brand new dress covered in a large, purple stain. She has faded temporary tattoos on the back of her palms, and they encapsulate a cupcake that is covering each one of her stubby fingers.

"What do you mean?" My husband peers over my shoulder from behind me as I'm getting ready to unbuckle her. The sun is strong when I glance back at him; we are standing in a small parking lot near Auntie's hanok.

I move slightly to show him our daughter's feet. One shoe is a bright blue, and clasps around her ankle nicely with a bow; the other, is evidently white. It does not even have a clasp. Trusting Hyunwoo to dress Jae was clearly a misstep in my agenda this morning when leaving my mother's house. We have been here for about a week for a small vacation, and you'd think we'd have our lives together by now.

He chuckles at the sight. "It's called fashion, honey."

I roll my eyes and nudge him with my elbow playfully. "Maybe Auntie won't notice."

"She has been complaining about her eye sight lately," Hyunwoo sympathizes with my comment.

I want today to be perfect. Although I very often visit my Godmother, today is special because so many things are being celebrated today. Jae's birthday, Auntie's retirement... and I am expecting another child. My smile is stinging my cheeks as I lift Jae from her car seat.

"Are you happy, sweet birthday girl?" I coo at my daughter and her adorable face as I bring her into my arms.

I wrap one arm around her and place her compact body at my hip to shut the car door. She giggles happily as she licks the purple icing from her fingertips. Giving her the cupcake during the car ride was not one of my proudest moments.

"It's my birthday!" Jae chirps happily.

Hyunwoo is gathering our things. "Yes it is, sweetheart."
