CHAPTER TWENTY-NINE:
BACK TO FORKS

LUNA HAD MANAGED TO stay in Phoenix for another month. Her eyes were blood red, and she was panicking. Victoria had told her that it was okay to kill, that it was normal for vampires. But that wasn't what was bothering Luna. It was the fact that she had been turned against her own will. Luna never wanted this life. But now, she had it. She was going to be forced to feed on people for the rest of her undead life.

Luna wanted to cry. She wanted to sob, but she found that the emotions made her throat burn with a fire that was unbearable. She didn't enjoy feeding on innocent people. She didn't enjoy not being able to shed tears. She didn't enjoy the fact that she could bleed anymore. She didn't enjoy the fact that she still wanted to die, but that choice had been ripped from her grasp.

Luna had called in with Charlie every few days so the man knew that she was alive. She found out that Bella had finally managed to crawl out of her room just as Luna became glued to her own. She was scared to live under the same roof as Bella. She didn't want to suck her best friend dry. She knew, by the way the vampires all acted at Bella's party, how tempting her blood was going to be.

So, Victoria taught her some tricks. Though Victoria didn't act it herself, she couldn't help but feel a slight pity towards the Star girl, so she decided to show Luna how to act human. She had to hold her breath to avoid temptation. Move her shoulders so it looked like she was breathing. Blinking ever few seconds whilst wearing green contacts to hide her now blood red eyes. February was to start the next day, and Luna decided that it would be time for her to go back to Forks.

Victoria requested of her to not go, but Luna said that she had no other choice. She told the redhead that she would keep in touch, the redhead promising the same. Victoria showed Luna a side that she showed no other. She felt almost protective of the blonde girl, and she didn't know why. That was just the affect that Luna had on people.

Luna still had all of her human traits. She was still quiet, she was still artistic, and she was still the kindest soul out there. Luna had told Victoria that when she went back to Forks, she was going to force herself to switch to the animal diet. If Luna were to kill anyone in Forks it would be too obvious. She didn't enjoy killing anyways so it was a win win situation.

Luna sat on the plane, her earphones placed in her ears as she tapped her fingers along to the beat of an old Bon Jovi song. If you didn't think Luna was pretty before, then you definitely did now. Luna's already beautiful features became more sharpened and more elegant. Her skin became paler, shining light on her sharp jaw line and perfect smile. Luna knew that Bella was going to figure it out as soon as she walked in the door. And then Bella was going to be scared of her. Because Luna was a monster.

Luna arrived at the airport, a taxi patiently waiting there for her. Luna entered the vehicle, offering the man a tight smile as she held her breath. She could hear his heart beat. She could hear the blood pumping through his veins. Venom pooled in her mouth, causing her to clench her jaw. Don't breathe, Luna reminded herself. She swallowed the venom, her face forming into one of disgust as it ran down her throat.

She wasn't going to last long. She knew that for sure, though she was going to try her best. She arrived at the Swan residence. She quickly thanked the driver before grabbing her things and rushing out of the taxi. When the driver sped away, Luna allowed herself to breathe. She closed her eyes and listened, smiling with relief when she only heard one heartbeat that was going at a slow pace, meaning the person was asleep.

Luna let out a deep breath before pulling out the spare key Charlie had given her and unlocking the door. She entered the home and quietly carried her stuff to her room. She closed her bedroom door and unpacked her stuff before pulling out her phone and calling Victoria.

"Calling me so soon? I must say that I am flattered." Victoria said. Luna smiled slightly.

"Yeah, I just wanted to tell you that I made it back here safely."

"Well that's amazing to hear. We'll talk in a couple of day alright, sweetheart?"

"Alright." Luna nodded before hanging up the phone. She knew that she shouldn't be talking to the redhead, but Victoria had been nothing but kind to her since she had changed. Victoria respected her choices. Victoria respected Luna. And Luna felt the same way. Victoria had taken Luna under her wing and helped her out when there was no one else. Victoria saved her from herself, and she would forever be grateful for that gesture. For once, Luna felt like someone actually cared about her.
