My writing style is a bit weird today, it's a lot more formal, with a lot more dialogue than usual. Sorry?
Third Person P.O.V.
Why him? Why always him? Why does he get to be happy? Why not me?
We're practically the same person. So why...?
Geno grit his teeth unconsciously, watching as the couple ran around the park.
It was a lazy day in the real world. The birds were quietly chirping, the lush trees rustled only the tiniest bit from the wind. Laughter echoed the air, hanging there like a soft breeze. Everyone seemed to be happy.
Keyword: "seemed".
There was part of Geno that wasn't overwhelmed with jealousy. No, instead, it was stricken with guilt. Sans had helped him, freed him. So how could Geno do this?
But looking at Frisk, he wanted to shove that guilt aside. As well as shove Sans' face into the dirt.
Before the genocide routes... he had loved her. Every detail, every flaw, every moment with her was perfect. It was just them.
...Wow. All that time in the Save File really made me a poet, huh?
"A-Are you alright, Ge-Geno?" A nervous stutter asked behind him. Geno turned to see his reptilian friend, Alphys.
Putting on a semi-genuine smile, the skeleton nodded. Alphys didn't believe him, though. That shadow of dullness echoed in his eyes. He wasn't okay.
"Q-Quit the lies. What happened?" His facade dropped quickly, a mix of negative emotions enveloping his face.
Geno muttered something she couldn't quite catch. "What w-was that?"
"...Am I... wrong for feeling this way?" This only confused Alphys even more. "W-What way?"
Sighing, he reached out to hold the scientist's wrist, then teleported to another part of the park. However, this area was much more quiet and isolated.
"This should be in private but... Sans rescued me, did he not?" The other nodded, and she felt him remove his hand off her wrist. "Then... why... am I a bad person for feeling this way?"
She was already tired of how unspecific Gene was being. "Geno," Alphys comforted, "I-I can't help unless you tell me w-what's going on."
He had already looked away and avoided eye contact. "I... have romantic feelings for Frisk." At this, his friend's eyes widened, then came to a thoughtful tone.
Alphys began to speculate, going off into a small tangent.
"T-That makes sense. You are Sans, after all. Or rather, he is you. If he has feelings for Frisk, s-so should you, right? Though, her feelings may be different since she has d-different history with both of you." She glanced back at the, now more so, troubled skeleton.
The reptile chose her next words carefully. She knew Geno was sensitive on the upcoming topic. "If the timeline is the same, you g-gained these feelings before all the genocide routes?" He nodded.
At this, Alphys' eyes softened. "Geno... y-you're not wrong for liking Frisk. You did before, so obviously, you do now. You can't control that. What you control, is what you do with y-your affection."
Geno was still uncomfortably looking away. "...I don't know what to do." This caused his friend to inhale sharply. "What do you w-want to do, then? Do you want to ask Frisk out or tell her of your feelings?"
"...No. No, I don't."
He continued, "As much as I like Frisk, maybe even love, I can't do that. I don't want to. She likes this Sans, and I cannot change that." But then, Geno grimaced, "But I can't stop feeling jealous."
Alphys made no hint that she would speak, but her expression prodded him on.
"I guess I should tell Sans, huh? He deserves to know. Obviously, I'll let him know I have no intentions to hit on Frisk, though."
That conclusion seemed to please Alphys, and she nodded in agreement. "S-Sounds like a good plan." She then placed a hand on his shoulder. "It's very mature for you t-to do that."
Again, his only response was a half-meant smile. "It'll get better, I promise. Take it from y-your friend."
This time, Geno gave her a real grin, before teleporting them back and heading to Sans. "C...Can we talk?"
Sans agreed, and Frisk took the hint to leave them alone.
"I don't know how to tell you this but... um... I have romantic feelings for Frisk." Understandably, this angered Sans, but he was also concerned.
"Don't worry, though! I'm not going to try anything, or try to steal her from you. She doesn't like me back, I know that. I just thought I should let you know." Geno rubbed the back of his neck. Well, the back of his cervical vertebra. He is a skeleton after all.
Sans noticeably relaxed at this, "Thanks..?" Geno pained a tiny smile and walked away.
Before he had a chance, though, Sans stopped him.
"And, uh, if you need to talk to someone about it, don't afraid to ask, alright? It doesn't have to be me, that'd be a bit awkward, but I'm sure the others will listen. Repressing emotions isn't healthy, for anyone.
Geno was surprised by Sans' concern, I mean, he literally just admitted to liking his girlfriend. He mutely nodded and kept going on his way over to Alphys.
She gave him another comforting smile, which he returned. To this, he viewed back to the person of his unrequited affection.
A sigh engulfed him. Maybe she wasn't his, but she was happy. And that was enough to make Geno smile. A real smile, this time.
This was requested by Zheni14 ! Thank you, by the way. I wasn't sure where to go with this request, there were multiple paths. I hope this met your expectations though, even if it had a more resolved and passive ending. I am 100% willing to re-write it to fit what you want, too. Depends if you like it or not.
Other then that, there's nothing else to say. Other requests are being worked on, but I'll try to do unrequested oneshots in between each one. Sorry for the wait! And for A/Ns in every chapter, that too.
Bye!
