Chapter-16

Naina was getting ready for the school, today her mood was cheerful.

She hears doorbell sound.
"Lagta hai bhaiya aur papa nashte ke liye aa gaye."

She goes out and starts serving them breakfast.

Tai ji saw her smiling widely and asked,

"O bai, kal se dekh rahi hu kuch jyada hi daant dikha rahi hai,kya baat hai?"

Arjun answers Tai ji's question,
"Tai ji khush hone wali baat hi hai. Aaj meri behen ko Student of the year ka award milega."

Naina smiles widely and steals a glance at her father, who was eating breakfast quietly.

Arjun turn towards her and said,
"Function dopahar mein hai... don't worry,main pakka aaunga."

Naina gets happy and smiled.

"Haa tu function mein jaa, Cricket practice karne main chala jaunga. Arre koi function mein jaane ki zarurat nahi chup karke apni practice ke liye jaana, samjha."
Rakesh scolded him and went from there.

Arjun was going after him to argue when Naina stops him and said,
"Koi baat nahi bhaiya,aapke practice jyada zaruri hai. Aapko papa ki baat maan leni chahiye, nahi toh apko pata hai woh naraz ho jayenge."

Tau ji clears his throat and speaks in an authoritative voice,
"Arjun beta, Rakesh jaisa kehta hai waise hi karo woh jo bhi karta hai tumhare bhavishye ko dhyaan mein rakh kar hi karta hai. Naina ka kya hai, ek na ek din usse yaha se chale hi jana hai apne ghar...uske liye apne papa ko naraz karna sahi nahi hai."

"Sameer uth ja, yeh ladka aaj ke din bhi late ho jayega."
Vishakha said in a loud voice.

Rahul and Deepika laughs.

She narrows her eyes at them.
"Bohat hassi aa rahi hai tum dono ko, chup karke nashta karo school ke liye late ho jayega."

Sameer comes to the dinning table and wished happily,

"Good morning, everyone."

"Ohh ho, aaj toh janab bilkul time per ready hai."
Vivek said and chuckled.

"Arre bhai zara time check kar lo, pata chale yeh time per nahi aaya hai... hum sab aaj late ho gaye hai."
Nanu said and everyone laughs.

"Kya aap bhi Nanu, woh toh bss aaj neend khul gayi."
Sameer said feeling embarrassed.

"Accha yeh baat hai, barkhudhar yaha sab jaante hai aaj aapki neend jaldi kaise khul gayi."
Nanu said and smiles mischievously.

"Congratulations, Sameer bhaiya."
Rahul and Deepika said together and hugged him.

Vivek too hugged him and Vishakha kissed his forehead.
"Proud of you beta, magar kabhi - kabhi padhai ke shetr mein bhi award le aana."

Sameer nods and chuckled.

He goes towards his grandfather and touched his feet.

"Jeete raho, aise hi kamyabi haasil karte raho. Aaj tumhe stage per award dete hue mujhe bohat garv hoga."
Nanu said proudly.

It was indeed the best day of Sameer's life.

Naina was walking to the school.

"Chalo kisi ko toh yaad tha ki aaj mere liye kitna special day hai. Papa aur Tau ji baat bhi sahi hi hai, Arjun bhaiya ke liye Papa ka sapna pura karna sabse zyada zaruri hai."

She was lost in her thoughts, when she saw her Chacha ji at the society gate.

She hurriedly walked towards him.

"Namaste Chacha ji."
Naina said.

Chacha ji smiled and said,"Namaste beta,kaise ho... padhai sab theek chal rahi hai?"

Naina nodded and asked,
"Woh Chacha ji aaj mujhe school mein award mil raha hai. Kya aap thodi derr ke liye aa sakte hai? Lunch time mein function hai."

Anand pursed his lips and said,
"Bohat badhai ho beta, aise hi taraki karte raho. Magar sorry main nahi aa paunga aaj dopahar ko meri ek important meeting hai, mujhe waha jaana hai."

He patted her hair softly and went from there.
She just smiles sadly.

Naina enters the classroom and sit on her desk.
She expectantly looks at the door.

"Naina yaad haina, tu udaas nahi hogi agar Sameer teri taraf nahi dekhega toh, magar ab toh hum friends hai mujhe aise nazarandaz toh nahi karega... ughhh, Naina itna mat soch."

Just then, Sameer enters the room.
Naina looks at him and this time Sameer too looks at her and smiles cutely.

"Main sapna toh nahi dekh rahi, Sameer meri tarf dekh kar smile kar raha hai, usne mujhe notice kiya... hum sach mein dost ban gaye hai."

She was lost in her thoughts when she noticed that Sameer was coming towards her seat.

"Yeh... yeh kya, Sameer yaha kyu aa raha hai... meri taraf kyu aa raha hai. Kya karu, hey bhagwan itni teez dil dhadak raha hai. Yaha se bhaag jati hu isse pehle woh yaha aaye?
Naina tu sacchi pagal ho gayi hai, chup karke apni seat per beethi reh, nahi toh Sameer tujhe pakka pagal samjhega agar tu bhaag gayi."

Sameer comes to her seat and said,
"Advance mein congratulationsl,Naina...
Oh sorry, Miss student of the year."

Naina recovers quickly and thanks him.
"Thankyou or tumhe bhi congratulations."

She smiles meekly at him.

"Sameer."
Someone called him and he went from there.

Naina quietly settle down on her seat but her mind was a total mess.
What just happened?
Did Sameer talked to her in front of everyone?
Is this was a dream or maybe she was again day dreaming?
Whatever it was, she was truly happy; she really have a true friend now, this was the first time she was looking forward to get an award because this time someone in the audience will be there for her and that someone will be her Sameer.

At the school playground.

Everyone has gathered to attend the School Annual Function; students who were getting rewarded was sitting in the front row after them, parents of every student and then the remaining students at the back.

Teachers and some students were doing remaining preparations on the stage before the chief guests arrive.
And, Naina was one of the volunteer.

"Woh, peeche bhi chairs laga di baaki students ke liye?"
Teacher asks to some student, when her eyes fell on Naina, who was at the stage checking the rewarded students list.

She goes towards her.

"Naina beta, yaha sab kaam hogaya hai. Aap jao baaki students ke sath, front row mein beth jao."

Naina nods and went down from the stage.

"Sameer ke sath jakar bethungi, thodi bohat baatein bhi ho jayengi."
She thought and smiles.

When she reached there,she saw Sunaina sitting beside Sameer and they both were laughing together.

"Yeh Sameer ke sath kyu bethi hai... konsa award mil raha hai isse, jitna mujhe pata hai aaj toh koi drama queen ya fashion queen ka award nahi hai, toh yeh yaha kyu hai? Kya karu, bol du ki yaha kya kar rahi ho... nahi,nahi Naina... Sameer kya sochega? Sunaina ke side wali seat khali hai wahi beth jaati hu, pata toh chale kya baatein kar rahi hai jo itni hassi aa rahi hai dono ko."

Naina sighed sadly and sat beside Sunaina.
