Chapter 21: Ai Calls Ritsu

After they got home, Ai immediately messages Ritsu.

"Ritsu-kun, what are you doing right now?"

A few minutes later, Ritsu replies.

"I just took a shower. I got chased by a couple of stray dogs."

"So that was him!" Hayasaka realizes.

"I saw you being chased earlier. kekeke"

"Anyways, you ready for this weekend?" Ritsu replies.

"Yeah."

"I'll pick you up at 6. Sound good?"

"Sure thing."

Meanwhile, in the Sakurajima household,

"...Maybe i should call her." Ritsu thought to himself, as he was dressing the wound on his knee.

"I just wanted to feed them, why did they chase me?!" Ritsu sighs.

He then sends another message to Hayasaka.

"Hey. Can I call you?"

Ritsu panics. "WHY DID I DO THAT?"

His phone then rings.

Over the phone, he hears Hayasaka's voice.

"Hey. What's up?"

"I- uh... how was your day?" Ritsu was going to say something completely different.

"It went great. Me and my mom went to the shopping district to buy a yukata for the festival. I hope you think it looks good on me! How about you?"

"Not much, aside from the part where i got chased by stray dogs. I even got a wound on my knee."

"Aw, I hope you're okay."

"She's just the cutest." Ritsu thought to himself, sighing happily.

"Anyways I only asked to call because I wanted to hear your voice."

Later, Ritsu realizes what he said and immediately hangs up.

Hayasaka then calls again.

"Why did you hang up? Dummy."

"I'm sorry! I... accidentally pressed it."

"Of course, I also wanted to hear my boyfriend's voice."

Even though they can't see it, the two of them are smiling like idiots.

Ritsu's older sister, Haru suddenly walks in on him, while in a call with Hayasaka.

"Hey, Ritsu- Oh, why are you smiling?"

"It's nothing!"

"Oh, I see. You're talking with Ai-chan! Hi Ai-chan! I hope you're doing well!" Haru shouts. She then takes some paper from Ritsu's desk and leaves the room.

"...my sister says hi."

"Tell her I said hello!"

"Okay."

"So... uh... what do you plan on doing tomorrow?" Hayasaka asks, desperately trying to extend their conversation over the phone.

"I dunno, probably just stay at home. How about you?"

"I think... I have nothing to do tomorrow as well."

"I can't wait for this weekend." Ritsu sighs.

"Me too."

"I'm gonna go to sleep now, I love you, Ritsu-kun!"

"I love you too, Ai-san."
