"You still haven't told me your brilliant plan yet," John B pointed out when Affinity jumped down into the HMS Pogue. "Where are we headed to?"

It was a little past five in the morning when John B pulled up in the canal to pick up Affinity. The island was still quiet, the perfect time to take a little trip to her mother's boat in Figure 8.

"Figure 8," Affinity responded. "We're paying mommy dearest a little visit."

"Whoa whoa whoa, I did not wake up at 5 AM to get caught up in mama drama," John B scoffed.

"Not her, her boat."

John B raised a brow at her. "Now what is on said boat that does us any good?"

Affinity sat down in the seat next to him and crossed her arms over her chest. "Scuba gear."

John B began to laugh. "Well, there's a fault in your little plan, none of us know how to dive."

"Ah, but that's where you're wrong," she sang as she cocked her head at him with a smirk. "I received my advanced certification two years ago in the Maldives."

That statement finally seemed to get John B's attention. "You're quite handy, aren't you, kook?"

"I told you, all you had to do was give me a chance," she shrugged, shifting her eyes back to the sunrise ahead.

A ghost of a smile appeared on his face...that had to have been the first time he smiled at her. "Touché, so we are stealing from your mom's boat?"

"Yep," she replied coldly. "That bitch needs to pay somehow."

John B turned to the right slightly to enter Figure 8. "Which house is hers?"

Affinity pointed six houses down. "The white one with the blue siding."

As they got closer to her mom's house, she saw a big white boat that she didn't recognize docked, rather than her mom's boat.

"That's not her boat," she muttered.

John B's eyes narrowed. "That's Ward Cameron's boat," he said in disbelief. "Why would his boat be there?"

"How do you know?" Affinity inquired.

"I work for him," he answered. "He lives on the other side of Figure 8."

John B slowed the speed of the boat so that it rested behind Ward's, keeping them out of sight from the house. He shut the engine off. Affinity's eyes scanned down the boat and found four tanks racked up on the side of it.

John B nodded to the tanks. "Just grab those so we can get out of here."

Affinity nodded in agreement and carefully stepped out of the Pogue and onto Ward's boat. She hoisted a tank up onto her knee so she could get a good enough grip on it to hand it to John B. She looked around those other tanks for any BCDs and regulators, but she found none.
