before mark arrived back in korea.....

bambam was quickly beginning to realise that there was something wrong with jinyoung. he'd been noticing it for a while, how he'd sneak back to his apartment at odd times of the day, how he wouldn't take visitors anymore, how when he stared into bambam's eyes, his own were swimming in guilt.

a hazed guilt, like maybe he himself wasn't even feeling it, but it was there nonetheless. and bambam was growing more and more concerned. especially as mark still hadn't responded to any of his messages, and jinyoung didn't seem the least bit upset. in fact, jinyoung had hardly mentioned mark at all. which was weird- considering mark used to be all he talked about.

bambam seemed to be thinking about mark a lot though. when he woke up, the first thing he did was check his phone- it was always silence from mark, but he always held out some hope. throughout the day mark would spring to his mind at random moments, his concern growing as the first two weeks slipped past and mark didn't return home.

they were well into mark's third week of being in america when jinyoung's secrets started to get out.

at first it was small things, a shirt in his apartment that wasn't his, a small bruise on the side of his neck. tiny things. things that no one but bambam seemed to notice.

he tried talking to jinyoung about it, knocking on his apartment door one evening. the door had swung open barely a fraction and bambam couldn't see inside the room. that was suspicious. what was jinyoung hiding.

"hey park." he had said, "can we talk?"

at first, jinyoung had been chill, smiling tightly at bambam and saying, "of course."

it was after, when bambam pointed out what he had noticed, pointed out how jinyoung had stopped caring about mark, pointed out that he was growing more and more distant by the day, that jinyoung grew angry.

"nothing is wrong!" he had said, firmly and calmly.

"and i know that's not true."

"bambam. leave me alone." the way the anger sprung up on him only condemned him further, at least in bambam's eyes. what did he have to be secretive about? what was he hiding? bambam wasn't leaving without answers.

"no. you need to tell me what's going on now. you're obviously hiding something."

"don't make me ask twice. leave. me. alone."

"no i-"

"BAMBAM!" and the boy in question couldn't help but cower away, "i gave you a direct order. get out of here."

"jiny-"

"NOW."

and the door was slammed in his face.

it was monday that day. the first day that mark hadn't been back when he should've. it was scary, that his friend was gone and no-one else seemed to care.

yugyeom, of course, cared. but he was caring in a quiet way, barely communicating with bambam at all anymore. and jackson, well he never really warmed up to mark all that much, so he carried on as if nothing was wrong.

he asked bambam for updates on mark a few times. but every time it was the same response.

still nothing.

on tuesday, bambam tried talking to jinyoung again. he responded with the same anger, with the same secretive nature. yugyeom went with him that time, and bambam swore jinyoung was a few seconds away from punching him when they decided to leave him alone.
