I curtly nod in response while I walk with Nara beside me, my father's secretary.

He didn't even give me enough time to settle down when he demands to see me first thing in the morning.

I didn't need to be told twice so I drag myself inside.

Right when I step in, I was welcomed with a modern luxury CEO office with an intricate theme of brown wood and black.

I instantly noticed a dark walnut bookcase lining the entire left wing of the enormous office. There is also a set of black leather sofa in the receiving area while the far wall has a large fireplace with bookshelves lining on each side.

My eyes roamed to the bookshelves and saw piles of books in there including some of which I'm familiar with.

There, I saw Richard Catañeda in the center of the room on his executive chair in front of his desk while signing some paperwork.

He's in his usual corporate attire with his thick furrowed brows, his signature impassive face, and his blank cold stare.

My eyes involuntarily wandered to the things placed on top of his table. The rate of the stocks in the company was registered on the screen like he was monitoring the progress of the business for the month. There are also piles of files in the corner that were left untouched. My eyes drifted to the frames placed on the right edge.

There was even a photo collage of her pictures since she was a baby. All the frames have traces of his most priced possession while I have none on it.

Just by that mere sight, one can easily point out who's the favorite child.

It's a rectangular frame that is even bigger than the others. Nakataob iyon, waring hindi na dapat makita.

"What are you looking at?"

My gaze shifted on him. He might've noticed my attention on the frame even if he kept his eyes glued on the folder he's reading.

I watched as he flipped the papers and seriously read every page before signing.

He tossed me the piles of folders I saw earlier.

There are a lot of people who expect a lot from you because you're the eldest heiress. I want you to be prepared. Huwag mo akong ipahiya.", he strictly told me, not even throwing a glance at my direction.
