Day three went by quickly, to say the least. Iori was sitting at the front of the bus alone, exhaustion tugging at her eyelids as she looked out the window. Tokyo was unbelievably big, so much so that it was almost overwhelming.
She had no desire to live here, at least in the coming years.
Tomorrow was going to be a big day, she's seen it on everybody's faces after they won against some school from Okinawa. According to Omimi, last nationals, they had barely made it this far, and they were having a much easier time this year.
And the quarter-final match would be Shiratorizawa, too.
"Scary," Iori murmured to herself. She could only imagine how much Ushiwaka and Tendou had grown from the last time she'd seen them play. Left-handed players had always been quite the obstacle in volleyball—Iori would know, seeing as she was left-handed herself.
The thought of having to see any of them cry hurt. She didn't want them to lose, especially not to a team she had (technically) beaten a while back. The thought of seeing Osamu and Atsumu sad hurt even more.
Maybe she'd call Kogane once she got back to Miwa's; Kogane was always really good at emotions, compared to Iori, who often hid from them at any given opportunity. Plus, she was pretty caught up on all that was going on, and she wouldn't make fun of her (like Maruyama or Inoue would).
The bus pulled over next to Miwa's apartment building, and Iori swiftly gathered up her stuff and walked to the door. She took one last glance at the sleeping team before stepping off into the Tokyo streets, only to end up right back inside.
Sliding her phone out of her pocket, Iori quickly dialed Kogane's number, waiting for the hyperactive girl to pick up.
"Hello-hello!" Kogane exclaimed. "This is your captain speaking! There seems to be a problem in Aimoville, so we must make an emergency landing!"
"Funny," Iori commented, stepping onto the elevator. "I want to chat with you."
"Oh, ominous coming from you. Something must be very wrong if you wanna talk."
"Awe, thank you. I love my fans, I really do."
"Ew, who said I was your fan? Leave it to your twin fan club presidents," Kogane chuckled. "Seriously, though. What's up? What's happenin' in the city?"
