I know it's almost over, but what is mia and Harry and little bub doing for Father's Day do you imagine?

----

i could see them having a little moment in bed. harry's always the one to get laila and bring her to their bedroom with a bottle, but today, mia's the one who gets her, tip toeing around her husband, making sure the baby monitor by his ear is turned off.

laila is a little over one year old, and although she's just stuck on "mama" and "dada", she's the most talkative thing they've ever met. seriously, she loves talking, so as soon as mia enters the nursery with a smile, laila's arms go up and she begins blabbering without a second to breathe. mia picks her up and mumbles between kisses, "let's go wake up daddy, yeah? it's a special day. gotta show daddy we love love him."

after changing her diaper, she brings her to bed and lays her on harry's chest, her heart swells when harry instinctively places his hand on her little back. he used to fall asleep with his baby on his chest with pillows set around him and a blanket over his body, claiming the weight of the baby on his heart allowed him to sleep better. seeing that as soon as she got home would always cause her to choke up. it isn't any different now.

"good morning, baby," he mutters without opening his eyes. "s'a bit early for a sunday morning, isn't it?"

mia's voice is at his ear. "wanted to start the celebration early."

harry rubs his eyes, the silver band around his left ring finger shining. "oh yeah?" he mumbles. "what are we celebrating?"

his wife laughs. "what an amazing father you are, dummy."

the thing is that harry knows what shitty fathers are like, considering he has one, so he makes it a daily goal to be the best father he can be to his little girl, and it's so apparent to mia. the man who was once so afraid of having children in fright he'd be an identical person to his emotionally abusive father now pours his heart out to his wife and daughter every day, and this needs to be celebrated. he's not a product of his father at all.

as mia watches harry cuddle with their baby, she inflates with happiness because harry's done so much to keep his girls happy. coming from a torn family isn't easy, and to use all the negativity and turn it into something life changingly positive is something she's always look up to when it comes to harry and his fathering skills. this man was born for this role. she recalls all the nights he'd spent awake rubbing mia's stomach, silently wondering if he'd be a good dad or not. she remembers the nervous breakdowns he had even during the birth of his daughter, not because he wasn't ready, but because he doubted he had that nurturing bone in his body, especially given everything he'd already put mia through.

she's so fucking proud of who he's become.

i could see them having a small celebration. mia cooks him his favorite meal, engulfs him in kisses and bear hugs. she tears up a bit watching harry tickle laila, remembering all the years that have passed and all the troubles they've been through. it's nice they've finally settled down and started a family.

mia has made him a little gift that he can hang up in his work office. it's just her handprints and laila's tiny hand prints framed with a little poem she's written about how much his girls love him and appreciate him. the day is so wholesome.

and yeah, once laila has gone to sleep for the night, she brings out the scarves and asks him to tie her up, but hey, it's all part of the celebration.
