Logan:

The chains on my wrists constrained my blood circulation. I was fighting for any ounce of freedom at this point; any amount of savior that would break the chains loose.

It would be easier to succumb to the prison I held myself in; the walls would cave in and I'd be able to breathe better. The weight of the secrets, the importance of the hushed whispers, and everything I had learned about Bella would fall apart.

I couldn't let it. I need to put on the calm mask to play the part. I needed to play the part of the sane, normal boyfriend who wasn't withholding every ounce of my being. Nothing would ever be normal between Bella and me; if I was the only one who knew that I'd be okay with that.

The light knocking on my office door pulled me out of my rummaging thoughts. "Come in," I called out harshly.

Vanessa, head of pack security, strolled through the large wooden doors. The sound of her heels clicking filled my ears as she approached me with a glaring look.

Vanessa had been one of the best fighters in the pack. She had gone through vigorous amounts of schooling to work her way up to the position she held in my pack, and I trusted her to complete whatever task was at hand.

"Alpha," She greeted, firmly.

"Any updates?" I cut to the case immediately. I was not a fan of small talk and every ounce of my being surged with annoyance.

Vanessa cleared her throat a bit, "We delved deeper into the rogue that was lurking around the border. His phone had quite the vast history on your mate."

I leaned back in the office chair. The thought of this scummy rogue having the slightest idea of my mate awakened every sense in my body. "What'd he know?"

"Where she lived, her job, her family in Rhode Island... He had a lot of information from a few google searches." Vanessa's voice faltered a bit.

I could tell the thought of her soon-to-be Luna brought her some sort of uneasiness. If only she knew that I would skin someone alive before I let a single hand touch the hair on Bella's head.

"Was he working with anyone?" I asked in a deep grumble.

"I don't believe so; he didn't appear to be in contact with anyone else but I will keep an eye out," Vanessa reassured me.

"Thank you. If that's all," I eyed over by the door in a way to call her dismissal. I felt my jaw aching from the harsh clench I held.

Vanessa bowed her head slightly and turned around to leave. I stared down at my papers about the rogue before Vanessa's voice cut through me again.

"I don't mean to be disrespectful, Alpha, but," Vanessa turned back towards me, her lips pierced out as if she wanted to spill a million secrets. "Do you plan on telling Bella?"

My blood began to boil from the question she had just asked. Vanessa was usually straight-edge, always following the rules. This was the first time she had crossed a line.

"I don't believe that's any of your business." I harshly spat out at her.

"I know it's not, Alpha. I am just asking because while researching this rogue, I couldn't help but notice the vast studying Bella is doing about wolves." Vanessa paused, gathering her thoughts. "She seems really adamant about learning the deeper truth. Whether she knows it involves you or not, but the chance of her coming across something..."

"What are you playing at? Are you trying to tell me you're going to tell her?" The harsh voice grumbled through my voice in a demanding manner.

"No, no Alpha of course not."
