El POV
I just got a call from Steve saying that billy was okay. But had to stay in the hospital for a bit longer bc of injuries. Max had fallen asleep on my lap so I was just reading. I heard her start to wake up.
El: hello have a nice nap?
I asked politely she didn't answer at first then mumbled a yeah. She got up and grabbed her phone.
El: Steve called already, he said billy is fine but has to stay in the hospital for a little
I told her she nodded and laid back down trying to calm down probably. I sighed I wanted to know what was wrong but she wouldn't tell me.
El: is every-
Max: fine I'll tell you
She said harshly I quickly shut my mouth and let her explain the whole thing.
El: his dad abuses him!?
I said in complete shock she nodded as she was now crying. I wrapped my arms around her as she cried into my shoulder.
El: hey it's okay you'll all be fine
I said feeling useless in this type of situation.
Max: okay I think I'm fine
She said pulling away after a few minutes, I smiled and nodded. She went back to sleep while I just sat there thinking.
El mind: maybe they can live with somewhere else leave this place behind
