Part 12

*next week; 3rd PoV*

Josie had spent the weekend in the hospital, being there from Friday afternoon and released Monday morning.

She was told to stay home from school for the whole week. She had her friends bring her work, help her out, she did online work. Her mother took some days off to take care of her, usually having other family come over when she had to work.

Alex also had made herself useful.

Even though she was working a lot more, she still made time for Josie. She would come over after work for an hour or so, to check up on her. She would help her take care of her siblings. She would FaceTime her to make sure she went to sleep.

Josie was, well.. not okay.

She wouldn't eat much, she won't talk to anyone, not even Alex or her mother. She wouldn't sleep, but thanks to Alex, she would sleep for a little bit but then wake up in the middle of the night.

*Josie's PoV; Friday Morning*

I stare at the clock as it hits 7:30am.

I managed to fall asleep for 2 hours but I've been awake since 2am.

Today is Valentine's Day.

Great.

A shitty holiday.

I don't even feel like grabbing my phone because I already know I'll be bombarded with sappy things that I sadly can't experience.

I look down at the bandages on my left arm.

My left arm had the worst damage.

I stand up and walk to my closet slowly and grab Alex's jacket, lay back down in bed and put her jacket on.

She has been there for me the whole week, considering that she's busy with work. I know I've been an asshole to her but I've been an asshole to everyone.

I'm just glad she's still here caring for me.

There's a knock on the door and I sit up and see Jackie and Jenni.

"Hey we're taking care of you today" Jackie says giving me a smile and I return a small smile.

"First task, changing your bandage and you need to shower"

My left arm is basically useless right now, it's still numb, it hurts to move it and I'm basically struggling with everything.

I'm sitting down in my bed, Jenni behind me brushing my wet hair, a towel on the bed so it doesn't get wet.

I changed into another pair of sweatpants, a shirt and I have Alex's hoodie on.

"You need to eat" Jackie says walking in my room and I shake my head no a little bit to not interrupt Jenni brushing my hair.

"Your mom said you didn't eat yesterday. At least eat some fruit. You want strawberries?"

I sigh softly and nod.

She smiles and walks back out.

Jenni finishes brushing my hair and she stands up to put my hair brush away.

Maybe I should stop being an asshole and talk to people.

I haven't talked the whole week.

Do I remember how to talk?

I know I have to use my mouth to say words and make a conversation.

"You're probably wondering why we're here instead of being together because it's Valentine's Day" Jenni reads my mind and I look at her.
