*2 weeks later*
"Welcome back class of 2019! I hope you all had a great summer and are ready to give it your all to graduate" the principal says in the microphone.
I'm sitting next to Evelyn and Miranda.
As you can already see, it's the first day back to school. August 13th.
I look at the presentation they were showing us and they start to pass out some packets.
I look at it and put it in my backpack.

"Head to your first period class everyone!" Everyone stands up to walk out of the auditorium. We walk out and I sit down in a table in the cafeteria.
"What's wrong?" Miranda asks, as Evelyn looks at me worried.
"I didn't get enough sleep that's all" I say.
They keep looking at me and don't ask any questions.
"Well let's go. We have to go to class" I stand up and we keep walking.
"Don't we have first period together?" I ask Miranda and she nods.
"Yes we do. So let's go. We'll see you during lunch" Miranda tells Evelyn and she nods, and then we part ways.
We go to the front of the school to the B hallway.
English class.
We walk in and sit down together at the back.
I look down at my schedule and see I have 6th and 7th period off.
I have office aide 5th period, in the nurse's office.
I take a picture of my schedule and send it to my manager.
I got a job at Old Navy a few days after Alex left, and they needed to see my schedule so they could make my work flexible during school, since before school I worked mornings.
The bell rings and I put my phone down once I see the teacher in front of the class.
"Isn't this the teacher that everyone hates because she's really rude?" I whisper to Miranda and she gives me a small nod.
Well I will not enjoy this class then.
*lunch time*
"Well I'm dipping after next period" I smirk as I sit down with Evelyn and Miranda.
"Lucky ass" Miranda mutters and I laugh.
"Hey it's okay, you'll both survive" I give them a smile.
"How are you getting home anyways?"
"My mom is picking me up"
"How's Alex?" Evelyn asks.
"She's doing good. She started classes two days ago. She already has a lot on her schedule"
"When is she coming to visit? She never said goodbye to us" Miranda asks.
"Probably around Thanksgiving break"
"That's three months away"
"Yep" I drink some of my water and my phone vibrates.

I smile.
Me: lunch started a few minutes ago. I'm with Evelyn and Miranda
