You and Riker had been married almost two years, and for the longest time Riker really wanted to have a baby. Yeah you wanted to, but you weren't ready, you weren't ready to have to take care of another person. Yeah you'd have Riker, but what about when he went on tour? You couldn't take care of a baby that you've just had with Riker for 6 months by yourself. For petes sake the baby wouldn't be able to have time with their daddy.
But you wanted to have a baby with Riker, so bad. Just, things could get complicated.
But you and Riker decided to try, Riker took multiple months off even if you didn't get pregnant. He supposed that you could keep trying if it didn't happen the first time. You finally realised that your period was late. And of course thats not normal, Riker was at the studio working on the next album.
You decided to quickly run out to get some pregnancy tests, without being noticed. You drove home biting your lip and tapping your fingers on the steering wheel. Your phone buzzed from beside you, it was from Riker, you sighed, reading it first thing when you got home.
"I'll be home in an hour, i hope you've had a wonderful day today, i love you xx"
You closed your eyes sighing, deciding not to answer and go take the three pregnancy tests that you got. You ran up the stairs into yours and Rikers shared bedroom, to the bathroom. Even though there was no one home you closed the door and locked it. You peed on all 3 sticks just wanting to be sure. You waited five mintutes, and nibbled on the inside of your cheek. Nervous to see the results you picked all three up, being positive. All.Three.Were.Positive.
You were over-joyed but nervous at the same time. How would Riker feel about this? Yeah he wanted the baby, but he's laid off about it these past few months. Was he seeing someone else so the he could get a baby? The thought of that made you even more nervous.
The front door opened and closed quietly, making you sigh and close your eyes, trying to calm yourself.
"Y/n?" Riker called.
"Y/n, Babe? Where are you?"
Deciding to finally speak up, "I'm upstairs."
Riker came up the stairs quickly, coming into your room looking for you.
"Y/n?"
"I'm in the bathroom," you whispered, getting more nervous by the moment.
You hid the sticks behind your back, faking a smile, and Riker could tell that something was wrong.
"Y/n? What's wrong? What happened?"
"Riker, nothing, I'll be out in a minute and tell you, I-I just need a minute," you stammered.
Riker walked out closing the door, giving you a minute to regain your confidence.
Riker was sitting on the bed and you took his hands in yours, giving him a signal to look up at you, confused.
"Riker, I know you've wanted this for awhile, and recently you haven't been talking about it, and it's really making me nervous," you whispered.
"Y/n, whatever it is, I'll always love you, just please tell me?"
You pulled out the three pregnancy tests from your back pocket and handed them to Riker.
"Suprise!" you smiled.
Riker looked up at you with teary eyes, and a smile formed on his face.
"So we're having a baby?" Riker questioned.
"Yeah we're having a baby," you smiled through the tears.
Riker pulled you up from the bed and into his arms. You wrapped your arms around his torso, and layed your head on his chest.
"Y/n, you have no clue how long I've wanted to have a baby. Especially with you, you were making me really nervous when you told me to leave the bathroom. I haven't talked to you about it very much often because you told me you weren't ready. But that night, it changed everything, and I least expected you to get pregnant," Riker whispered.
"Riker, I've wanted to have a kid with you for the longest time, I just didn't know how to tell you. Thank you for making me the happiest girl on the planet."
Riker smilled down at you, and kissed you lightly on the head. He began to lead you to your bed where you would cuddle, and talk about the baby the rest of the night.
