Mind, Body and Spirit

As the flesh grows stronger

The spirit grows weak

Weary in its praise

The ways of the world holding it back

Through demanding hands

Hands that demand silence

Actions that demand compliance

Words that force conformity

Mind, body and spirit

No longer exist as one

The body tramples over all

The mind can longer hear the call

The spirit feels the loss of it all

Not moving

Just stagnant

The spirit cries out

The mind breaks down

And the body

With its human flesh

Fills with a lust

That has an unquenchable thirst

And is left with an unsatisfied appetite

The mind and spirit can agree on one thing

They are both at dis ease

Peace is not found

Comfort is not felt

Joy is lost to them

They come together

In search of one thing

Why?

The push and pull has become too great

The constant tug of war

The endless weight of the world

The aimless search in the night

Done without a guiding light

Why oh why do they fight

One of them trying to be more right

None of them trying to find the healing light

What is sought is not found

What is asked is not given

Incessant knocking and still no answer

The flesh gaining momentum

The spirit leaving the vessel

The mind battling it all, while bottling it up

Soon to burst at the seams

No longer yielding good dreams

Something must give

And in doing so

The mind

The body

The spirit

Will suffer the same fate

Complete

Total

Absolute

Destruction

For one cannot exist without the others

For one cannot exist without the others
