"Mr.Miller, you wanted to see me?"

Mr.Miller pointed at the chair across from his desk, "First I would like to extend my condolences about your father," I half smiled as he continued to speak, "But the real reason you are in my office is because of this photo."

He slid a large copy of a photo across his desk, it was the same photo of me in the boys locker room.
My stomach started turning flips.

"You and I both know that this is unacceptable."

I slowly nodded my head, "I know, sir. I am sorry.. it won't happen again."

"Detention after school. Room 103B," he handed me a yellow slip, "You are dismissed now."

My day kept getting worse by each bell. I spilt my water in my lap. I zoned out during my exam. I fell walking into the bathroom on freshly mopped tile. And then came detention.

I have never been the kid to be in detention. Ever.

"Well...well..well," Heath sat on a desk by the door, "What did you do to get in here?"

I was just about to answer when I saw who else was in the room. Justin Brooks sat all the way in the left corner, Liam all the way to the right, with Jett Michaels and a few of his smoking buddies filling in the middle gap.

I made me way over to an empty seat close to Liam.

"I feel guilty."

He pushed his hair back and pulled his air pod out of his ear, "Why is that?"

"It was because of me, wasn't it..."

He put his AirPod back in, "I don't know what you are talking about."

Mr. Miller entered the room and instructed us to be quiet and work on school work for the next hour.

When we were finally dismissed, Liam pulled me to the side, "Look, I think it's best if we just stay away from each other."

He didn't give me the opportunity to speak, he simply walked away.

"You good?"

I turn to Heath and act casual, "Yeah, you come here often?"

He laughed, "Yeah, I do, actually."

"Oh." I felt my cheeks burn.

"I'm not shy about it, Jones. You want to go get something to eat?"

I nodded, "That sounds amazing."

I follow Heath down the hall to the parking lot, we pass Liam and a blonde girl talking by his locker. In the parking lot I look at the row of cars wondering which one was his. We walked all the way down the row to what looked like an empty spot, but it wasn't empty after all.

"No way in hell."

Heath pulled his helmet out of the bags, "I have an extra."

He tossed me the helmet and waited for me to get on.

"I said no way in hell, and what I meant by that was HELL NO!! I am not riding a motorcycle."

He rolled his eyes, "Don't you want to be a badass atleast once in your life?"

Just then, I heard the double doors swing open. Out walked Liam with his arm around the same blonde girl from the hall. I looked around quickly and spotted his Jeep just across from Heath's motorcycle. I had a flashback to the night of Michaela's party. Liam had told me to stay away from The Dawson's.

I pulled the extra helmet over my head and closed the shield over my eyes, "Fine, but I swear to God if you kill me, I will haunt you."

He smirked, "Deal."

I swing my leg over and wrap my arms around his surprisingly muscular body.

I cut my eyes through my helmet to Liams direction. His arm drops off the blonde, "HEY!" He spots me behind Heath and sprints in our direction.

"GO!" I yell at Heath and squeeze his chest tight.

We tear out of the parking spot just as Liam is about to reach the bike and his yelling faded off.

The ride to the diner was like nothing I had ever experienced before. I thought I would be much more terrified, but turns out I liked it.

"You can go in and get us a seat, I am going to smoke real quick." Heath pulled a cigarette from his pocket and lit it.

The diner was crowded with high school kids.

A few minutes passed before Heath slid into the booth beside me, "So what's the deal with you and Liam?"

I almost choked on my drink, "What?"

"Don't bull shit with me. I know something is going on."

I shook my head, "Nothing is going on."

As if on que.

"Speaking of the devil himself." Heath cut his eyes to the entrance of the diner. Liam entered, but he was alone- and he looked pissed. He scanned the room before laying eyes on me.

"What the hell?" He stood over our table.

I sat in confusion, unable to form words.

"What's the problem?" Heath shrugged and kept his cool.

"The problem? You. You are the fucking problem," he took a deep breath and faced me, "I told you to stay away from him."

"You also told me to stay away from you, yet here you are." I crossed my arms.

"Let's go."

"No. I'm staying here."

Liam closed his eyes as his nostrils flared, he pushed his hair back, "Emilie, I'm not playing. Let's go."

Heath nudged my leg from under the table, "Look, dude. I don't know what the problem is, but if you wouldn't mind leaving us alone, we have a date to finish."

I swallowed the lump in my throat. This was absolutely not a date, but seeing Liam squirm- I was okay with not correcting the situation.

Liam locked his eyes with mine. He was no longer angry, he looked... betrayed. My heart started pounding so hard that it was hurting.

Liam stood there for several seconds, then Heath made a mistake.

He intertwined his fingers in my hair, and introduced his mouth to mine- right in front of Liam.
