Chapter 17: Link

"So how long will it take?" You leaned back in your chair and sighed. The guards had you in a meeting to discuss the situation with Link and Zelda, who were in the same places they were the last time the calamity struck.

"We don't know. But word has gotten around our villages that he was killed. None of the villages - except Kakariko - believe there's anyway he's still alive." Bazz shook his head and Muzu stepped up.

"We're doing all we can, and we suggest the two of you get training as soon as possible." He looked to Sidon and then to you. "We know you have a child now to take care of but we also have a calamity to end." Sidon stood up and put his hands on the table.

"We know. We'll try to fit training into our schedules as much as possible. But _____, I think you should be home the most for the next few months, atleast."

You looked up at Sidon and simply nodded. Over the next several hours, you and Sidon were in and out of meetings to figure everything out, and plan ahead for what was to come. The last meeting was a bit different though.

"Alright, so the four successors, Sidon, Teba, Riju and Yunobo should attack from these four spots with the Divine Beasts and Queen _____ will attack coming in from here and then-"

"Hold on a minute." Sidon cut the young hylian guard off. He stood up and examined the chart.

"Is something wrong your majesty?" The guard, Sir Jake, asked as Sidon looked back at him.

"Where does Link come in?" The guard looked at Sidon as if he was kidding.

"What do you mean?" Sidon pointed at the castle and the line representing the path you would be instructed to take.

"Master Link. Why isn't he on this chart?" Sidon was getting irritated at this point, and Bazz was pinching the bridge of his nose.

"Because he won't be in the battle." Sidon practically knocked his chair over.

"You mean to tell me that _____ is going out there alone? That's really where were at right now?!" Sidon hissed and Bazz ran over and grabbed Jake's arm.

"Jake, why don't we have a quick discussion about this with the rest of the guards?" Bazz looked embarrassed that he let a younger guard explain a plan rather than himself.

"We're terribly sorry. The both of you are off for the evening. We'll continue this meeting tomorrow when we fix this." Muzu bowed before leaving the room after Bazz. You and Sidon went back to your room.

"I can't believe these guards genuinely think we're just going to send you out there alone! This isn't right!" You closed your door and sat on your bed. Sidon sat next to you.

"I know. But it's just the younger guards, they're still learning. We'll find a way to get Link before we head in." You could feel that Sidon was completely tense. You stood up and kissed his cheek and he smiled for the first time all day.

"We'll just have to worry about this is the morning. We should get some sleep." Sidon kissed you and laid down. You curled up next to him and you both fell asleep.
