Chapter 08

I was biting my nails habang binabasa ko ng paulit ulit ang mga ni-lesson namin sa Biostat.

"Hey, narevie—"

"Not now. Nag-aaral pa ko," putol ko kay Cove.

"I was just gonna ask you kung nareview mo na ba lahat para mamaya sa midterms," pagpapatuloy niya pa.

"Yeah"

"Then what's with the reading? Tapos kana pala magreview?"

"Repetition helps." Pagpapaliwanag ko kahit ang totoo ay ilang araw ko na binabasa ang hawak ko.

I studied one week before the exam. Ayaw ko kasi ng nagcacram dahil namemental block lang ako and I don't like the idea of having anxiety dahil sa kakamadali isiksik sa utak mo yung lesson na inaral niyo since the beginning of the sem.

"It won't help. Mawawala lang sa isip mo lahat ng nireview mo. And knowing you, last week ka pa nag-aaral. Kaya tigilan mo na yan." Sabay kuha niya sa reviewer ko.

"Hey, di pa nga ko tapos e," at pilit kong inaabot sakanya yung mga papel pero tinaas niya pa lalo.

"Wag na nga. Trust your knowledge," pangangaral niya pa sakin.

"Coming from you."

"Well yeah, I trust my knowledge so much."

"You know, for the guy who depends on his stock knowledge, you're doing great. Di ka bumabagsak sa mga test." I honestly told him.

"Why thank you. You see, dapat ganyan nalang ginagawa mo. Have some fun instead of locking yourself up in your room bonding with your non-talking friends."

"At least they give more information and it feels good to know more. A person can never have too much information." Nailing naman siya sa sinabi ko.

"See, we've been friends for three months now, Kirsh. At kahit kelan di pa ata tayo lumabas. I've been inviting you sa mga gala namin nila Nori and Arianne but you declined all my invitations." As much as I don't want him calling me Kirsh pinabayaan ko nalang 'cause he kept on telling me that we're friends and we should call each other on first name basis ang awkward daw pakinggan ng surname.

"Well, I don't feel comfortable with those two girl's company. They don't like me and I don't like them too," I reasoned out.

"C'mon, you haven't been with them so how can you say that they don't like you?"

"It's girl's instinct, Cove. You'll never get it. Kung gusto mo gumala kasama sila wag mo na ko idamay. I'm fine." He looked at me like he was trying to read my mind.

"You sure?"

"Yeah, besides I'm taking care of mom." And another thing that has happened the past months was he got me to talk about my family.

He was just so pushy about the topic of me sharing some information about my life dahil ang dami ko na daw alam sakanya pero siya wala pang ni isa na alam sa akin.

"Oh right. How's tita? Kelan siya manganganak?" he asked habang naglalakad kami at nakaakbay siya sakin.

I don't really mind now dahil it was completely platonic and I kinda get used to his company, but his admirers seem to think the other way. They kept on glaring at me na akala mo aagawin ko sakanila itong lalaki na 'to. They can have him to themselves, I don't mind.

"She'll be due on February."

"That's nice. Alam niyo na gender nung baby?"

"No, sa weekend pa babalik sila mommy sa OB."
