november 4th
byers' residence
"stay safe okay?" tilly stood on her tip-toes and shook her father's shoulders, "promise me, you'll stay safe."
the two stood outside the byers' house. hopper was getting ready to go and so was nancy, jonathan and joyce.
"i promise." daniel nodded.
"and make sure when you come back, you'll be okay." tilly sniffled.
"i will." daniel pulled her into a tight embrace, "you know i will."
"because you're gringo." tilly stated.
"yeah, i'm gringo." daniel nodded before kissing her forehead.
"i love you dad." she whispered.
"i love you too." he spoke, "see you in a bit kid."
"see you-"
"wait," daniel came to a realisation, "d-did you just call me dad?"
"el, dan?" hopper yelled, "come on, let's go. it's time."
"give me a second, hop!" daniel yellled back with a grin forming on his face.
"i mean... isn't that what you are?" tilly quizzed hin, "my dad?"
"yeah." daniel nodded, "i'm your dad."
"i've called you that like three times already, come on." tilly laughed.
daniel pulled her into a tight hug and softly kissed her forehead. "i'll be back," he whispered so quietly it was inaudible to her.
tilly sighed as daniel walked over to the el and hopper.
"come on, tilly!" nancy called.
"hey, wait up!" dustin shouted.
when tilly turned around, she was enveloped in a four-way hug, max stood at the doorway with a smile on her face as they embraced.
"get off of me." she laughed but hugged them tighter.
"stay safe." dustin ordered.
"i'll see you losers later." tilly smiled before strolling over to jonathan's car.

joyce, nancy and tilly brought portable radiators into hopper's vacant cabin as jonathan carried his little brother.
"it's actually kinda nice." nancy spoke as will was laid on the couch.
"would you live here?" tilly asked.
