❝ FOUND YOU ❞
"NIK, THERE'S SOMETHING you should know," Rebekah stared at her brother, eyes brimming with sorrow. The chances of her throwing a joke so casually were low, lesser in such a situation as taunting as theirs. The grin fell from the hybrid's face as soon as he saw his sister's expression.
The blonde scrolled through the gallery of the phone in her grip, and showed it to the awaiting eyes of Klaus. It showed a picture of a smiling Caroline Forbes, her arms wrapped around a pale brunette, who seemed to be in mid-laugh. Although her eyes were closed, one could tell that she is filled with sunshine and possibilities. He already knewㅡnay, memorizedㅡthe wondrous blend of gold that lay hidden beneath her eyelids. He already knew every curve and corner of her being, for he had met her so many times before.
But love is not easy, especially not one as powerful as his. With love and happiness comes the impending threat of loss, and he was, unfortunately, severely familiar with the feeling.
The aching in his chest upon seeing his beloved was so indescribable that it brought unshed tears to his cerulean orbs. With clenched fists, he sped over to an unsuspecting Elena, pinning her by the neck to the wall of the Gym.
"Who is she?" he demanded.
"I don—I don't," the doppelganger squeaked, but stood straighter with a hardened glare to stare at the hybrid's eyes. "I don't know." She said fiercely, feeling protective of her friend.
"I suggest you cooperate if you want to keep your head," he snarled. "Now, I'll ask again: Who is she?"
The brunette sighed defeatedly upon being compelled, but answered him nonetheless. "Rosalie Monet. She's Caroline cousin, but she left Mystic Falls nearly 3 years ago."
Klaus grinned, secretly giddy at the thought of meeting her again. "And where can I find Rosalie Monet?"
"She's studying law at a university in New Orleans."
His heart leapt to his throat upon hearing that she was in his old hometown, but his hope was replaced by the sudden trauma of an encounter with his cruel father a few decades prior.
The hybrid released his hold on the doppelganger, turned around, and smiled gently at his sister when their gazes met, his eyes showing a hint of vulnerability that he quickly hid behind an uncaring facade.
He pulled himself together and focused at the task at hand: terrorising Elena and her gang. But the thought of her, the possibility of hearing her voice and holding her in his arms once more, was embedded at the back of his head.
