"Why are you overthinking this, Z? He said he wanted you there, and even if that's what is stressing you out, it's a public lecture at the university you work at. I say you go," her best friend, Delilah said over the phone.

"But what if he was just saying that to be nice? To be fair he knocked me straight on my ass. It could have been one of those nice things people say when they try to apologize," Zena anxiously explained to Delilah.

"Listen," her friend rebuttaled "I really think you should go. This is the first time in years I've heard you take an interest in a guy."

"Woah woah woah woah, who said anything about interest?" Zena asked defensively putting her hands up in the air and leaning back into her office chair.

"Well, considering you called me and said 'this like absolutely super cute guy bumped into me in the hall and like totally knocked me over' sounds like interest" Delilah taunted in a high-pitched high school girl voice. "But Z in all honesty you enjoy true crime shit, you literally watch documentaries about serial killers for fun when you're not out trying to save the planet. Even if it wasn't a dreamy nerd talking your ear off in the hall this is something you probably would have gone to anyways."

And just like that, the young PHD holder was convinced. Before she knew it she was sitting in one of the padded lecture seats in the middle of the room, anxiously hoping that Dr.Reid wouldn't notice her there.

That however was not the case, because Dr.Reid was waiting in the little office connected to the room, secretly hoping she would show up. For some reason he couldn't get the pretty science professor out of his mind and wanted to know everything about her.

"What's on your mind, Pretty Boy?" One of his partners Derek Morgan asked.

"No one. Why would you ask that?" Reid distractedly responded, looking up from his fingernails that he was picking at.

Morgan smiled to himself and responded. "Funny you say that man. Because I'm nearly positive I asked what was on your mind, not who. Anyways, let's go teach some kids, yeah?"

The two FBI agents walked into the room, and Reid noticed the young professor sitting smack dab in the middle of the lecture hall. He couldn't help but to smile at her and lift his eyebrows to say hello. And to his surprise, she responded back with a wink and smile.

Zena was completely in awe of Dr. Reids work, and after the lecture she went up to him to congratulate him for his engaging presenting skills.

"You didn't peg me as fantastic public speaker, Dr.Reid," she said approaching him after all of the students had left.

"Ah, thank you so much," he said awkwardly rubbing the back of his neck while looking towards the ground.

"So is that what it's like for you every day at work? You're out profiling criminals and on missions all over the country?" She asked him in amazement.

"Yeah I guess so..." he trailed off and they could both start to feel the conversation dying.

"Well, if you ever have a break from that crazy life of yours, call me and we can meet up for coffee. You can tell me all about them," she said, sliding the same piece of paper he gave to her earlier, but this time with her name and number on the back.

"I definitely will Dr.Barbarage-" he started, but she quickly cut him off

"Zena, all of my friends call me Zena," she said while bumping her elbow again with his and proceeded to walk out the door.

Spencer couldn't help but to stare at her in awe as she was leaving. A woman so beautiful, smart, and around his age just complimented him and gave him their number. That's not something that happens to him. Morgan, sure. But not Spencer Reid.

"You ready to go Pretty Boy?" Morgan asked walking into the room again.

"Yeah, lets head out."
