Chapter 14: Nina's Invention

Ember's POV

"What is that sound?" I asked.

"It sounds vaguely familiar," Jun mused.

"It really does," Nina agreed, as she walked ahead of us.

It was starting to get dark, so I pulled out a torch.

"Over there!" Jun yelled, pointing to a dim red light.

"We're right next to you," Nina replied sully.

I picked up a gadget. "Huh, this is kinda cool," I commented.

"Yeah, it- hey wait a minute!" Nina said. "That was the invention I was working on!

"Oh cool!" I said. "What does it do?"

Nina opened her mouth. "It was supposed to detect unusual ores," she said. "But here? I'm not sure."

"Unusual ores?" I asked. "Hey, maybe it can detect where the relics is."

"Well, it's definitely picking up a signal," Jun commented.

The three of us looked at each other and nodded.

We took a right and ventured deeper into the cavern.
