Chapter 54: Making Amends

Ember's POV

Meeting Karin was a huge shock to me.

A girl from the past... who else have I met in the past?

Oh wait... 

We decided to call it a night since it was pretty late and all.

What I didn't know is what the dream was about to reveal to me.

It was a sunny day outside, there was nothing wrong.

Well, at least not in the dream world. 

Somebody was watching me... I knew they were.

I turned around, and my instincts kicked in.

Without even thinking about my actions, I punched Damian in the face.

"Hey! I'm not here to hurt you!" Damian yelled, his raising his hands in a surrendering position.

I kept Flamix pointed at him, just to be safe.

"I know what you're looking for," Damian told me. "And I must say that one of them is in the End."

"You mean one of the Relics?" I asked.

Damian nodded. "Oh... and I noticed you freed Karin," he said. "Thank you."

I was confused. "Was Karin a friend of yours?"

"No, she was more than that," Damian replied. "She was my little sister."

Damian looked away. "I trapped her in the Keyblade to keep her safe," he explained. "I was going to free her when it was safe, but I never got the chance."

"Is she trustworthy?" I asked.

"More than I am," Damian amended. "A lot more."

Damian sighed. "Look, Ember... I'm sorry for everything I've done to you," he said. "And I don't want you to forgive me if you really don't think I deserve it, I don't want false forgiveness. But... at least, keep my sister safe."

I thought about how Damian had been corrupted by Kyllian.

"It's not your fault, Damian." I told him.

Damian looked shocked... as if nobody had ever said that to him.

"Promise you'll protect my sister?" He pleaded. "From Kyllian and the Overseer?"

"I promise," I replied.

Damian smiled when I said that.

I looked at Flamix, processing what he said to me.

Wait a second...

"Who is the Overseer?" I asked Damian...

Only to realize that he was no longer there.

I opened my eyes, gasping for breath.

Stella and Karin were both still asleep.

I will keep you safe, Karin... I swore solemnly. For your brother's sake.
