Chapter Forty-Three: It's Bloody Rubbish

It was November Second, the very first Quidditch game of the season. The first game that Angelina Johnson would be the captain of. The first game that had occurred at Hogwarts since Angelina's Fifth year, thanks to the Triwizard tournament. It was fair to say that the Gryffindor team was bursting with nerves and excitement. Ron Weasley was to be the new Keeper and Harry Potter had missed a majority of practices due to the conniving efforts of one Dolores Jane Umbridge.

As Jamie Devereaux dressed in her red and gold colors to support her house against Slytherin, she couldn't help but be excited for the game. Angelina, Alicia, George, and Fred had all been a little much to deal with throughout the past week—considering all they truly wanted to talk about was Quidditch—but the little blonde was eager for them to win. It also didn't hurt that almost everyone on the Gryffindor Quidditch team, apart from Katie Bell, she considered a close friend. Because of this, Jamie walked down to the pitch with Hermione Granger and Ginny Weasley.

"What is that all those Slytherin's are wearing?" Ginny asked, nodding her head in the direction of snickering students in green robes.

Jamie squinted her eyes, seeing a silver crown pin on each of their robes, "I don't know, maybe showing support for their team?" She guessed, but her gaze lingered on the small pin. Anything Slytherin's did in unison would most likely be hilarious for them but disparaging for others. A small part of the half-Veela wanted to laugh along when Slytherin student's said something particularly snarky. While it might be in mean spirits, a large amount of time they were onto something.

"It says: Weasley is our King" Hermione Granger said, rather dryly.

Jamie's eyes narrowed, "That seems...too kind. Doesn't it?"

Hermione nodded gravely, "It can only be sarcastic. I don't want Ron seeing them." Jamie, internally, smiled at Hermione's protectiveness over the youngest Weasley boy. She wondered when they would finally admit their feelings for one another and get over it. It was truly exhausting.

When the three of them got to the stands and the game began, everything was to be expected. Lee Jordan made too flirty of remarks about Angelina Johnson that left Alicia to glare at the stands on her broom from afar. And, thankfully, Gryffindor was doing surprisingly well. That was, until a rise of song came from the loosing end of the pitch. The entire Slytherin stand was singing something that was far too catchy for Jamie Devereaux to miss:

Weasley cannot save thing,

He cannot block a single rig

That's why the Slytherins all sing;

Weasley is out King.

Jamie's mouth opened in indignation, thinking for a moment it was about Fred and George. However, upon further pondering she realized it to be about poor Ron Weasley, the new Keeper for the Gryffindor team. The red-headed fifth-year seemed determined to ignore it. Truthfully, Jamie could have forgiven the entire rhyme had it not been for the next verse:

Weasley was born in a bin

He always lets the Quaffle in

Weasley will make sure we win

Weasley is our King

A very small part of Jamie couldn't help but recognize that the overall unity that had to occur to sing this type of song was admirable. However, a much larger part recognized that the tune was directly intended to harm a very green and insecure keeper.
