There was a month leading up to OWLs season and all of the fifth-years were under immense pressure to do well and receive as many OWLs as they could. Minerva McGonagall had even scolded Jamie for studying Charms during their "Private Persuasion Lessons" as the little blonde had taken to calling them.

Jamie had forced Cedric to stop reading The Vanishing of Veela Men so that if he didn't receive at least six OWLs he wouldn't be able to get mad at her for it.

Neither Fred nor George Weasley were worried about the upcoming exams. The two of them knew they would do well on the three classes that they actually cared about, but they didn't want to waste precious time studying for the useless classes in their mind. They were much too busy creating their Ton-Tongue Toffee, inspired by the engorgio charm that Jamie had put on Fred's tongue and the beginning of the year. Also their Fever Fudge was still in development, despite the horrific first test via Jamie Devereaux. Fred had tried the second draft of it and his skin had turned so red it blended in with his hair quite vividly. He also passed out and missed three of his classes that day, but that was a bonus in his eyes.

Jamie Devereaux had hated how awkward she had been around Fred that afternoon on the grounds, and how often she caught herself staring at his hands when they were in class together. They were big, and his fingers always seemed to be moving and fiddling with something. His nails were short and there was one long, distinct vein that would pop in his hand when he wrote with a quill. Jamie had almost set Cedric on fire in potions class when she was staring at him cutting up some ingredients. Thankfully, if the Hufflepuff had noticed anything odd with Jamie he chalked it up to the fact that she was half male Veela.

Something about the way Cedric always made sure to emphasize male Veela bothered her. But when she addressed him about it his response was, "Scamander emphasizes it because they are different creatures and have different traits. Like I use to think all those boys coming up to you was because they were compelled to due to female Veela magic. But, actually, they all just find you attractive and come up to you of their own free will. It's when they talk to you or interact with you that the male Veela powers kick in." Cedric Diggory was probably the youngest living expert on male Veelas. And he wasn't one.

"Call me a creature one more time, Diggory. I dare you."

Cedric laughed, "What are you going to do?"

"I could compel you to tell me who you like. Who you hate. What the worst thing you've ever done is. Trust me, we may be best friends but I am sure there are somethings you don't want me knowing."

Cedric paled at the thought, bringing a bright smile to Jamie Devereaux's beautiful male-Veela face. "Just a polite warning." She sung, and floated down the hall.

Minerva McGonagall sat across from Jamie Devereaux in her study. The air was crisp and there was a kettle of warm tea next to them. Two undrunk cups sat at either place setting as the two witches, one young and one old, stared at one another. There was a combination of exasperation and exhaustion in Jamie's face. When she thought she was using her persuasive talent, she wasn't. And when she thought she wasn't, she was. It made practicing it almost impossible for the little blonde because just when she thought she was getting the hang of it, her confidence would lead to her unintentional persuasion.

"Your emotions are what persuade people to answer you." McGonagall told Jamie, for what felt like the umpteenth time that afternoon.

Jamie Devereaux groaned loudly, "Yea, I know, but you try turning off your emotions when you are a fifteen year old, hormonal teenager, going through intense testing for placement to get a job you're not even sure you want!" Jamie exploded, feeling her nose sharpen.
