"Did i over do it? I think I over did it." Noland spoke softly as the waiter placed our drinks on the table and walked back off with our order.
"No, the fucker had it coming."
Noland looked me over with a hint of doubt in his eyes.
"I just want what's best for you. And what's best for you is me, not a pussy ass nigga that breaks your kitchen window 'cause he's not man enough to let you move on to better things." He said, giving me full eye contact. This man wanted me to pay attention to everything he had to say.
"Why do you want the best for me?" I asked.
"Because I see you've been around people who don't care enough to do so. I'm not those people. I will always want what's best for you, from my heart alone." He said blushing off that last part.

Not back to back.
"You ready to go, babe?" Noland asked, snapping me out of my train of thought.
"Yes, love. I am." I said as he took my hand in his and headed to the car.
"Now let's deal with the unconscious body that's laid out across my kitchen floor." I said with a chuckle after I fastened my seatbelt.
Noland smiled, and drove all the way home with that same expression plastered on his face. I wonder what's goin' on in his head...
