"Mr. Benson what is your relationship to the defendant?"
"He's my ex-husband."
"When was the divorce final?"
"It wasn't." I shrugged. I said what I said.
"So he's your husband, but you filed for divorce."
"Yes."
He took a step closer, looking back at Tae.
"Can I ask why you're re divorcing your husband?"
"Because he cheated on me."
"Adultery. Hm, that's a very serious crime between two married people. Legally and morally."
"Yes, I agree." I said as I slipped a frown at Tae.
"Is the person your husband created this adultery with in this courtroom right now?"
I swallowed hard and looked to my right. I saw his eyes widen.
"Yes. He's on the defendant's side." I said pointing to Quan.
"Let the record show, Your Honor my client has identified the other party of his husband's affair to be MarQuan Tellaford."
I peered to my right to see somebody typing everything everyone was saying. I never been in a courtroom this long, and never where I'm sitting at this very moment.
"No further questions, your honor."
I saw Tae's lawyer whisper something in his ear get up and make his way towards me.
"Mr. Benson, how well do you know my client's best friend, Mr. Tellaford?"
"As long as I've known Richard."
"And how long might that have been?"
"4 years."
"So isn't it safe to say you developed some sort of relationship with Mr. Tellaford as well?"
"OBJECTION! Relevance."
"Sustained. Get to the point Mr. Michaels." The judge said.
"Isn't it true that a occurrence of sexual activity transpired between the two of you?"
"Yes, it wasn't consensual though."
"It wasn't?"
Ain't dat what I just muthafuckin' said?
"No it was not." I said sternly.
"That's not what Mr. Tellaford recalls."
"I can prove it wasn't."
The whole courtroom goes quiet.
