Our protagonist stumbled through the crowd and finally made it to the place the socially awkward reside... the punch table. The boy was pouring himself a drink just as Jaune strode up to the table.
Jaune: "You hiding here?" He asked.
Saffron: "Mmmhm." He nodded.
Jaune: "Might if I join you?" He asked.
Saffron: "As long as we don't have to make conversation." He said.
The two simultaneously reached for each other's hands and shook them.
Saffron finished getting himself a drink and took a sip from the classic red plastic cup. The taste that hit him was pleasant. Fruity, yet pumped full of sugar. But not to the point where the fruity flavour was essentially absent.
Jaune: "So... this dance, am I right?" He chuckled nervously.
Saffron: "Didn't we just agree that we don't have to force conversation?" He asked rhetorically.
Jaune: "I know, but I want to have a conversation with you." He remarked.
Saffron grew a small smile. While it may have been phrased a little bit cheesily, but Saffron took it to mean that Jaune saw him as a person who would be worth conversing with.
Saffron: "So. This dance... are you right?" He asked with a grin.
The two dove right into a natural conversation. Jaune was explaining to the boy about the different comics, movies, and just... entertainment in general on the world of Remnant. Eventually, Jaune began talking about his family.
Saffron: "Really? Six sisters?" He asked.
Jaune: "Seven, actually..." He sighed.
Jaune: "One of them actually has the same name as you." He noted.
Saffron: "Really? Wow. I thought I was being totally original when I chose this name." He took a sip from his plastic cup.
Jaune: "Huh?" He tilted his head.
Saffron: "Nothing." He motioned for Jaune to continue explaining.
Jaune: "Well, my older sister Saphron and her wife Terra just got a kid together." He stated.
Saffron: "Really? Good for them." He took another sip from his drink.
Jaune: "What about you?" He asked.
Saffron: "What do you mean?" He retorted with his own, fake question. He really just wanted to buy time for either a distraction, or to make something up as he didn't feel comfortable talking about how he basically abandoned his family.
Fortunately for Saffron, a distraction came around in the form of Ruby Rose.
Saffron: "You here to escape, too?"
Ruby: "Yyyup." She said, adding a pop as she finished the response.
Jaune: "To the socially awkward." He held up his drink and the other two tapped their plastic cups against his.
Saffron: "People suck!" He cheered.
The other two followed suit and cheered as well. Saffron let out a laugh and lifted the cup to his lips.
Ruby: "Sorry things didn't work out with Weiss." She said to Jaune, who rubbed the back of his head.
Jaune: "Meh, it's fine... Neptune's pretty... cool. I can see why she went with him." He said, somewhat hesitantly.
Ruby: "What do you mean?" She stared at him.
Jaune: "Not many people can pull off blue hair." He mentioned. Saffron grabbed a few locks of his flaxen hair off of his forehead and stared at them.
