Bianca glanced at herself in the mirror.

At her dark-sable hair framing her narrow face in soft curls and her clear, olive skin. At the way her crystal chandelier hit the bridge of her small nose at just the right angle that it sparkled when she lifted her glossy, pouted lips into a smile. At her perfectly arched brows and mascara lengthened lashes. At her body that filled out in all the right places. And her eyes, oh my god, her eyes. Whether they were an ebony or dusky hue- no one would ever truly know, but were stark enough to drown innocent little boys who dared to gaze into the abyss.

Ever since Bianca 'B' Prescott was born, she was told that she was, the fairest of them all.

Like any, the island's very own Kook princess had a reputation– she was perfect in every single way, except her attitude. Bianca was stubborn and shallow and most of all, she was a spoiled bitch.

But she didn't need to explain her bratty behaviour when her bank account answered it all, growing up showered in diamonds and jewels, swaddled in silks and cashmere.

That's what happened when you came from old money- mostly from her mother's side, but her father was a business man- he owned a tether of hotels on island and the mainland. His business and it's employment of the less wealthy meant their family was one of the only things keeping the other half of the island, The Cut, afloat. Her parents liked to be active with fundraisers and charities- claiming they were giving back to the community, but Bianca knew it was all an act.

From a young age she was groomed to be perfect, keep up appearances, covering the cracks with makeup, glitter and bubble wrap. All she had to do was keep up her pristine image in front of the adults, smiling, waving and looking pretty just to satiate her parents. It didn't matter that nobody asked her if she wanted it or the expectations that came with it- none of it did. Her entire life had been a pageant show. She'd dance around a stage, drawn back with scarlet curtains like a marionette while her mother pulled the strings all for the applause of the crowd at the very end.

So when Bianca Prescott first met Sarah Cameron at their exclusive private high school, Kildare Academy, the two girls clicked instantly. It felt like Sarah could see her for who she was, after all, they were both so very alike– both held on a high pedestal not just by their parents, but by their peers whose kindness eventually turned into envy until the girls figured that they only really had each other and that's all they ever needed.

Until Bianca met Rafe Cameron.

The first time Sarah had brought her home, she took the boy's breath away. She didn't mean to fall for her best friend's brother. It just kind of happened and dating Rafe wasn't so bad– he was only few years older than her and he was pretty hot, so there was that.

Bianca's parents couldn't have been more proud when she started dating a Cameron, not because they were nice people- questionable at most- but because of their exalted reputation on the island. And Rafe had always been a charmer, he cruised right past the meeting-the-parents phase of the relationship and right to solidifying himself as their son-in-law.

So Bianca ruled at the throne beside the Kook King himself– their fates written into the stars, sealed with a kiss and all that fairytale bullshit. Rafe Cameron and Bianca Prescott were meant to be. They were Rafe and Bianca. Bianca and Rafe. If there was anything in the world that just made sense, it was them.

And so no one questioned the constant heated arguments when they were together or that Rafe would blatantly flirt with other girls at parties or even the bruises left on Bianca's arms by the end of the night.

When the soft melody of the doorbell rung Bianca felt her heart begin to beat wildly in her chest. She straightened her baby-pink satin slip dress, pulling it down at the frays as it clung to her hips. Her manicured hand clasped around a ivory mini prada hand-bag and adjusted the white headband on her head.

She took one last glance at herself in the mirror before her gliding down her endlessly winding stairs in her stiletto clad feet. She almost thought she'd made it until she reached the bottom of the staircase only to find her boyfriend standing in the frame of her front door beside her mother.

Rafe Cameron had a bouqet of strawberry-pink roses in his hands- her favorite and when his blue-gray eyes fell upon her, they widened and his mouth hung agape, "Wow," He whispered lowly.

It was date night.

Every friday for a whole year since they began dating Rafe Cameron would appear on the doorstep of her two-story mansion, park his car in the driveway surrounded by nearly-trimmed hedges and a pristine lawn with a bouquet of roses in his hands and every time he'd have the same response- 'wow'.

wow. wow. wow.

Once you said it enough times, it sounded bland and detached rolling off the tongue.

But Bianca wasn't complaining– she was living every girl's fairytale after all. Her Prince Charming standing before her waiting to seal her fate with a single kiss, whisk her away and make her his princess.

But every story book had an ending and soon enough when the clock struck twelve, Bianca would come to realise that her carriage was a rotten, fungus-infested pumpkin and her dress would wilt away to torn, mud-speckled rags and when she kissed her Prince Charming, he would turn into a fat, ugly wart-ridden toad.

author's note. hi uglies, bianca's character is so fun to write i can't wait for u guys to read it– she's inspired by maddy perez, cher horowitz but mostly blair waldorf ! this book is very gossip girl-esque bc i love it sm and sarah gives me serena vibes so i thought it would be cool for her to have a best friend like blair ('s and b' type beat). bianca is a classist, she's mean especially to the pogues and bratty and u might hate her ?? maybe u won't idk, but i hope by the end of the book you love her as much as i do ! <3
