"Hey, uh- did you know the bottom two stars from the Little Dipper point to the North-"
"-The North Star," Sarah finished, grinning at John B from where they were lying on the floor of a walk-in wardrobe in one of Rose's real estate listings.
Bianca almost rolled her eyes- when they were little Sarah had a borderline obsession with astronomy. At sleepovers after both Bianca and Kiara had gone to bed, the Cameron girl would often stare out her window with her hand on her chin and her eyes widened in awe. Her necklaces hung with celestial pendants and the telescope in the corner of her room, courtesy of Ward, only fuelled curiosity with the night sky. She wouldn't stop pestering her best friend about her sun and moon zodiac signs- no matter how much Bianca insisted it was all bullshit.
So as the couple stared at the star spangled ceiling, Bianca merely huddled further into the corner of the room, wrapping the fuzzy blanket they'd stolen from one of the rooms further around herself and tried to tune out the conversation.
"That's the center point," Sarah whispered, still gazing into the brunette's eyes, "What everything else spins around."
Bianca bit her tongue and stifled the urge to tell them to shut up and go to sleep because they'd all had a crazy day, especially John B, and that didn't even begin to describe it. The stench of their body odour potently wafted in the small room, but they couldn't open the window because sirens were still wailing outside and the blinds had been closed all the way, encasing them in total darkness save for the small torchlight Sarah had manage to find in an obscure cabinet.
Suddenly, John B shot up, panting in fear and drenched in sweat when loud voices echoed from downstairs before Sarah hushed him. The blonde girl quickly bought him into her arms, "Shh- it's okay," She reassured repeatedly, "It's okay. I've got you."
John B sniffled slightly, "Could you remind me of the happy ending?"
Sarah nodded, "We're gonna meet the crew at the dock tomorrow and then they're going to have the getaway boat."
"Then we go to Mexico," John B whispered lowly.
"Yeah," Sarah smiled, "And you're going to be a fishing instructor."
"You're damn right."
"And I'm going to have a sandwich shop," The girl continued, "And we're going to have a house on a beach and a dog and a boat. We'll remake the Pogue and everything's going to be okay," She snuggled further into his side.
Bianca frowned, she couldn't help but feel like this was a private moment that she shouldn't have been listening in on. But just seeing the two together made her heart wrench because as much as the thought of Sarah leaving broke her, she couldn't help but think of a particular blond boy she was missing.
She wanted JJ here, with her, after everything that had happened today. She wanted him to hold her and wrap his arms around her and tell her that everything was going to be alright and she'd do the same for him because even in the middle of this fucked up mess, she couldn't stop thinking about him.
And with Rafe's confession still ringing clear in her mind, it dawned on her that he was the only one she wanted.
Bianca didn't want someone who promised to always love her and never leave her like Rafe did. She needed someone who understood that life happens and sometimes things don't work out. She didn't want someone who sugar coated things and would throw tantrums at the first sign of trouble. She needed someone to tell her how it really want and put her in her place. She needed to be able to go five hours without talking to someone and not feel lost or incomplete. She was whole without any boy, but with JJ, she wanted to be so much better. She didn't need him, but she really fucking wanted him.
And it may not work out, and by no means was he her soul mate or whatever star crossed lover bullshit Shakespeare fed them, but the fact that he understood her made her think that they had a pretty good shot.
