The sound of helicopter blades whirring in the sky was an unusual one for the Outer Banks and the large printed letters 'SBI' should've scared the girls, but it didn't. Because with Sarah being a witness to the murder of Sheriff Peterkin and Bianca's audio recording on her phone of her father's motive, in a perfect world they might have actually had a shot in clearing the Routledge name. But the society they lived in was one where the law was bigoted by the privileged and the enforcers are corrupt bastards and their world was far from perfect.

"Is it like a sex thing?" Bianca mumbled from beside her best friend, "Like Val is like your alter ego or something-"

"What?" Sarah scoffed, her eyebrows furrowed, "No!"

"S, it's totally fine," Bianca shrugged, referring to the post-it note Sarah left for John B where they were going where she signed her name as 'Val,' "I'm not kink shaming you or anything-"

"Okay- B, enough," Sarah snapped, crossing her arms over her chest, "Can you focus, please?"

"Whatever," Bianca rolled her eyes, glancing up at the large white tents ahead of them with individuals in heavy, black uniforms patrolling the area. Though, their large helmets were not as fear-inducing as the metal guns in their hands and the girls had to do a double take.

"Is this all for John B?" Bianca whispered, glancing around the expanse as she gripped her phone tighter.

"Come on," Sarah muttered, taking large strides towards tents surrounded by reporters with Bianca following closely behind.

Radio static whirred around them, the Kildare cops and SBI officers surrounding a large table while a tall man with the badge 'Bratcher' ordered them around, "Listen up! We have blanket warrant on all residences assumed to be empty. We have checkpoints on the bridges to limit mobility. Coast guard has eyes on the water. We've got some weather coming in, but we've asked out nautical units to remain in position while we conduct out search of the island."

Before the two could reach the tent, an officer guarding stepped forward, "Excuse me, girls- only authorized personnel past this point."

Bianca scoffed loudly, ignoring him as he stepped in front of her to prevent her from going in, "We just want to talk."

"Official orders are for locals to shelter and report sightings to law enforcement," He continued reciting.

"No- no," Sarah quickly interjected, "He's not armed. I promise, he's not armed and he's not dangerous," She tried to push past, but the officer quickly held her back.

"We'll make a statement-" He offered instead, trying to keep her from leaving.

"We just want to talk to someone in charge!" The girl ripped away from him.
