I got up the next day still hurt from Ethan's words. I decided to go to our company today. I would bring my son. Gusto kong ipakilala nang personal kay Daddy ang anak ko ngayong alam ko na ang totoo.
Binibihisan ko na si Asher; katatapos ko lang siya paliguan. Biglang dumating si Eunice at pumasok sa kwarto ko.
"Hey, Hey, Syden dear!"
"Oh?" sabi ko habang nilalagyan ng baby powder ang leeg ni Asher. Done. I carried him and faced Eunice.
"Saan punta mo? Bihis na bihis ka ata." puna ko.
She's wearing a red grecian dress with sleeves paired with a wine colored pair of stilettos. Naka-braid ang buhok niya. I saw her holding a gucci purse. Ngumuso ako. Siya naman ay sobrang lapad ng ngiti.
"Hahaha. You've noticed my outfit, huh? Okay lang ba?"
Tumalikod pa siya at sini-sway sway ang damit. Malapad ang kanyang ngiti nang magharap ulit kami.
"I'm going on a date. Alam kong pupunta ka sa Daddy mo. Para hindi ako ma-bore, I will grab the opportunity to date someone."
"Sino naman?"
"Secret. Hahaha."
She winked at me before leaving. Naiiling nalang ako. Well, she's at age to take a serious relationship and settle down already. Ewan ko ba sa babaeng 'yon. She's not lacking in terms of beauty. But I haven't seen her in a relationship with someone. Though, she has high standards when it comes to men.
Nag-ayos ako ng sarili. I was about to go when my phone rang. I received a text.
From My man: You're coming?
Nakagat ko ang pang-ibabang labi. Five consecutive days ko na siyang hindi pinupuntahan, he kept on messaging me but I barely replied. Guilty pa rin ako sa sinabi ko sa Mama niya na alam kong narinig niya.
To My man: Sorry, Ace. May gagawin kasi akong importante.... tomorrow, I guess. :)
From My man: Okay. I missed you.
My heart flustered. Wala sa sariling napangiti ako. Hindi na ako nag-reply pa. I slid my phone through my pocket. Then I went out.
Dumating ako sa company at exact nine in the morning. Some of the employees greeted me but many of them got shocked expression when they saw me carrying my son.
I just gave them a light smile. "My father?" I asked the front desk employee that was still on shocked mode.
She blinked twice. "U-Uh... he's in his office, M-Miss Gray."
The way she gazed at my son, I could sense the question mark on her head.
"He is my son." I said. Nahiya naman ang babae saka napayuko.
Ngumiti ako at dumiretso na sa office ni Daddy. My heart was pounding so bad. Dahan dahan kong pinihit ang siradora ng office niya. Bumukas iyon, pumasok agad ako.
My tears fell when I saw him, gone with his fierce and dark face, I could clearly see the wrinkles drawn on his face. He aged so fast. Ang dami na ring puting buhok na nahahalo sa itim na itim niyang buhok.
He lost his weight. Sobrang payat na niya, hindi na tuloy bagay sa kanya ang tuxedong suot. He didn't notice my presence or heard the door clicking.
He's busy with the papers. I knew how stressed he was. My tears were falling until a sob escaped my mouth.
"D-Dad.." I stammered.
Naiangat niya ang paningin. Mas na-klaro ang mga kulubot sa mukha niya at nangingitim pa ang ilalim ng mata. Wala ba siyang saktong tulog?
