Misty

Moving back into our apartment felt so surreal. I didn't feel like if I was unsafe anymore but we have taken some more security measures to keep safe.

Our Landlord had made it known that he was going to upgrading the building's security system. As of right now, we only had cameras in the hall and though we were located in the projects, most of the problems happened outside the building.

"Is that everything grandma?"

"Yes sweetie."

"Cool. How are you feeling?"

"Girl I'm fine." She fanned me off.

While staying at Sarah's house, her dad was kind enough to pay for a full check up for her so we could have an idea where she was health wise.

"So, I was to ask you."

"Mhmm."

"Seeing as how we don't have anything to fix, I still have the money I won in the casino. You want to schedule your surgery soon."

Though she was healthy, the cancer was at a stage where it could be removed surgically, thanks to the medication.

"Misty that's your money love."

"Ok well I'll go ahead and schedule it then." I shrugged. "I'm going to do what I want with my money."

Shoving me out the way, I laughed as she got a bottle from her bag.

"What are you doing crazy lady?" I laughed.

"Blessing this apartment."

Standing there, I just watched in amazement while she shook holy water around. Getting my phone, I sat and facetimed Sarah.

"Yes love." She smiled.

"Can you ask you dad if he could find out when it the earliest available date my grandmother can get for her surgery."

"Yall are going through with it?" She smiled.

"Yea. I decided to use the money I won."

"Nice. Well yea, I'll ask him as soon as he gets home."

"Thanks babe."

"Yall settled in good and everything?"

"Yes we are." I nodded.

"Great. Now when are you going to finally call August?" She smiled.

"Who?" I heard my grandmother asked.

"Girl!" I glared at her.

"What?"

"I'll talk to you later, bye!" I ended the call.

"So who is August?"

"No one."

"Hmm. That no one have you a bit defensive."

"Grandma believe me, its nothing."

Since what happened between me and Jamal, my grandmother was more protective than anything. From the moment any guy tried to come at me, she would shoot them down.

"Let me see who this on one is." She sat next to me.

Rolling my eyes, I brought up his instagram and showed her.

"He sings?"

"Yes." I mumbled.

"Does he eat?" She scrunched up her face. "He's so skinny."
