C h a p t e r 3 1

Rosaline

"Shhh! You're being too loud, " I said, scowling Nicholas as we hid behind some bushes.

"Well, I'm sorry. But at least you don't have a bunch of thorns poking your ass!" He said sarcastically, I slap his arm to shut him up as I continue keeping an eye on Noah.

After that, he went quiet and we both silently hawk at Noah who was doing a bad job of keeping his stares undetectable. I'm surprised the young maid didn't notice.

"I got an idea, " I whispered to Nicholas, "I should become friends with the maid that Noah likes. After all, I need a friend here, plus it will help us get them together. It will be a win-win situation."

I looked at him to see what he think and saw him nodding his head in agreement.

"That's a good idea, and I want you to have friends to talk with. I don't need you hanging out with a Jeremy and having him complain to me."

My eyes widen at that, "is he talking bad about me? Am I that annoying?"

He realized his mistake and immediately shook his head, "oh no! That's not what he's complaining about. He's just complaining that I'm making him hang out with you more than with me."

"But isn't basically the same thing?"

"Uh. Just think about whatever makes you happy. Don't even care about Jeremy, you have me."

I smiled at him, "and that's why I like you. You're always there for me."

His eyes slightly widen as he gripped my shoulder, I was confused. Did I say something wrong?

"You like me back?" He whispered.

I nodded my head with my forehead wrinkled in confusion. I thought he knew that already. I did give him a chance and agreed to date him.

"Of course!"

"Really! You're not saying that because we been dating and I kept confessing to you, right?"

"Why would you say that? We may have started dating because I gave you a chance but over the past weeks you made me realize how much I like you."

And slowly, a wholesome grin appeared on his face as he pulled me into a hug and kissed the crown of my head, "thank you, thank you!"

I let out a small chuckle and then pulled away, "I thought we were supposed to get them together not us talking about our relationship."

He smirked at me, "well they can wait. After all, my girlfriend just washed away my worries by telling me she likes me."

My cheeks heat a little as I looked away from his stares. He's not going to stop teasing me now, is he?

"Oh! I almost forgot, my parents, invited us to their anniversary party."

I gasp and slap his arm, "you supposedly forgot about that?! How can you forget about that! When is the party?"

He scratched the back of his neck as he looks anywhere but me, "tomorrow night."

"TOMORROW NIGHT?!"

*crows noises*

"Way to go, Rosaline, " Nicholas snickered me.

I bit my lips out of embarrassment as everything went silent before the bushes were pulled apart and a confused Noah was standing in front of us.

"What are you guys doing hiding behind the bushes?"

"O-oh, nothing, " I look around and pick up a random pebble that was next to me, "we were just playing a game."

"Behind the bushes?" He asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Yes. Is there a problem with that?"

He furrowed his eyebrows a bit before shaking his head, "well I guess you can go back to whatever you were doing. I have to attend a phone call anyways."

He left and left us just sitting there. Mission failed.

"Well, that was great, " I said as I stood up and patted off the dirt from my legs.

Nicholas stood up as well and help me get rid of any dirt that I missed, and I did the same for him.

I poked on the food in front of me as I kept a watchful eye on Noah. He was eating his food with his head down, but looked up every time someone came and place a plate on the table.

"You need to stop staring at him, " someone whispered to me as they gripped my thigh.

I looked away and finally ate my food.

"Ah!"

We all looked up from the sudden commotion and saw the girl Noah fancy on the group with plates and food all over the ground. We all stood up to help her but Noah was quicker.

"Are you okay?" I asked when I saw her leg turning bright red.

She nodded her head but winced when she moved her leg.

"Nicholas called the doctor! And Noah carries her to the nearest room while I get some aloe to apply over the burn."

They both did as they were told as I ask a maid to bring me a clean aloe. After cutting it into pieces and cleaning it I rushed upstairs.

"This is probably going to feel a bit weird but it will help with the burn, " I told her as I rubbed a small piece of aloe on the burned part of her leg.

I heard her let out a small gasp as I applied it evenly. After that, the doctor came and help with her burn to make sure it wouldn't leave a deep scar. I also learned that her name was Annie.

"We should leave them alone, " Nicholas whispered to me as we both stood in the corner of the room.

I looked at my brother who was keeping a watchful eye on Annie and immediately agreed with Nicholas. I nodded my head as we both slowly exited the room leaving the soon to be new couple alone.

"I can tell that they will start dating soon. I can see it."

"Me too."
