Rosaline
"Are you sure, Nicholas allow you to leave?" The guy, Jeremy, with who I became friends with asked as we walk into a taco shop.
"No, " I answered right away, "And that's why you are here." I smiled at him, showing all of my teeth.
"Well, " he said, dragging the word out, " that's fantastic to know."
"Indeed it is, " I spoke, grabbing his hand and bringing him inside the place I would eat when I finally got my paycheck. That was before I was replaced and fired.
"Usual?" The girl in front of me ask.
I simply nodded, "yes. The usual, please." Then turn to Jeremy. He looks at the variety of foods then orders a simple meal. He looks at me and the eye be up and down. I look back at him trying to see what he was trying to say. He stretched out his arms and motion me to go pay for the food. I put both of my hands in my pocket and pull the inside of my pocket out.
He let out a sigh and pull out his wallet. I thank him and watch as he grumbles under his breathe holding the $20 bill in his hands for a few extra seconds before handing it to the cashier.
"Hey hey. Put my money down gently. It takes effort to get that amount, " he told her, eyeing his money.
"Hey! You just crumble it!"
I shook my head and head to the drink machine with the cup in my right hand. I press the sprint button and watch as the liquid pour into the cup. My eyes trail off to the papers tapped on the window by the drink machine. There were sponsored papers to miss people's papers. One paper in particular looks oddly familiar. I squinted my eyes and look at the small picture placed on the paper. I gasp when I recognize the picture. Dread fill my entire body as I felt all the warmth in my face left.
"What are you doing? Hurry up and come sit down."
I stood on my spot and look at the same picture I could have sworn I saw when Nicholas caught me the other night.
"Sweety. Why is this ugly picture of you plaster on the window."
I turn to Jermey with my hand over my mouth. He was sipping on his drink making a bunch of slurping sound. He grabbed my drink and placed it in my hand.
"Thanks, " I mumbled, completely ignoring his comment from earlier.
He bit on his straw and lean closer to the picture, eyeing it. His eyes shifted a bit when he read the big black bold word on the top.
"Yo! You're missing?"
"No. I'm right in front of you."
He waved his hand in my face, scrunching his face in disapproval. "No, I meant that!" I let out a small sigh, grabbing his hand and dragging him outside.
"Would you shush! People will notice us!"
"Well. Either way, they will recognize you sooner or later with all those posters plastered everywhere." He told me.
We both walk back to the car, with me looking behind to see if anyone was looking at me. I look out of the window when I saw someone or maybe I was just being paranoid. This happened many times before.
"Oh shoot."
I turn to look at Jermey to see him thinking deeply, "what."
"We forgot to buy him food just in case he gets mad at us."
"Seriously." He answered my question by rushing out of the car and inside the taco shop with his drink in his hand.

"I said to investigate more on that situation not go bring me some burritos!"
"But I thought you love burritos."
"Not when my ass is stuck in the toilet the next day. You know how much I hate beans!"
That's how my day is going when I came back home. Jeremy rushes to Nicholas' office with a bag of burritos while I sat in the dining room with my half-eaten taco. I thought I was going to have a peaceful lunch but instead, I got two grown men arguing like a newly wedded couple.
"Just eat it. The toilet can handle it." I heard a loud spank which made the maids in the room jump a bit. A loud 'ow' was heard after that.
"I wasn't worried about the toilet, you two chunk dancing burrito. Get back to work."
Loud footsteps fly down the stairs and soon review a frustrated Nicholas. He mumbled many words that were not in my dictionary as he storms to who knows where. I mind my own business and went back to eating.
When I was finished I clean up and walk out into the garden, one of the places I was allowed to go to this mansion. I waved to the bodyguards surrounding the area who just stared at me blankly. I shrugged my shoulders and went to the spot I normally go, which was the small pond in the farther corner of the garden.
I bent down and let my clean hand touch the clear water. The koi fishes came towards my hand as I steady my hand from flinching away. Just when it was about to swim on top of my palm something hit the water and cause them all to scram away.
"Come on, " all my courage was wasted.
I let out of a semi frustrated sigh as I stood up from my spot. Stupid rock, I mumbled under my breath, or whatever that was. My right foot kicks a pebble out of frustration as I walk back inside.
But I didn't know what would be my first mistake. For that rock was the first clue to the many unanswered questions.
